“Well, good mornin’! Happy Thanksgiving!” the woman at the door said.
The woman with three small girls in tow just smiles. She does not speak English well, but she knows that she is in a safe place. A place where she will be able to see her children eat a healthy meal and receive warm coats for the winter. They will not be hungry or cold today. They will not want for friendship or understanding today. They will not feel “poor” today.

Being a newcomer to Alamance County, and to North Carolina in general, I thought I would make it my mission to learn as much as possible about the area I'm calling home nowadays.
So this past Sunday morning I set out to do some exploring.  And the treasures I found ... well, let's just say that they are a very pleasant surprise.
