spring: Springtime! It's REALLY Springtime! - 05/05/08 11:05 PM
Toledo, OH WOW! In just a matter of a couple of days the Gingko tree in our front yard has gone from being full of very tight little knots to this beautiful explosion of color! It seems as though I went to bed and it was just a bunch of limbs, and when I opened the blinds this morning the steroids had kicked in! I'm SO happy! Spring is officially here! spring: Springtime in Toledo - 04/22/08 09:33 AM
There are few things more beautiful than the colors and textures produced by Mother Nature. Springtime in Toledo, Ohio is quite a special time - the colors, the sounds, the textures, the smells...all contribute to the awakening of senses long dulled by the gray skies and cold weather of winter. spring: Tulips - 04/02/08 08:45 PM
I was recently fortunate enough to purchase a very unique indoor flower arrangement. Unique in that it is 14 tulip bulbs placed in a large clear cylindrical vase. The bulbs rest on a ring with slots below each bulb for the roots to reach the water that is in the bottom of the vase. This collection is promoted as year round tulips for your indoor enjoyment. Thank you Costco! I had never seen anything like this before. I decided to play around with taking some photos of the flowers in various stages of opening. To me, they are just beautiful to see.

I am no longer the "great champion of winter" that I have been for the last 50+ years. So, in the interest of full disclosure, I am hereby passing my torch of admiration of the
