A grand slam took place on November 2nd and it wasn’t in Yankee Stadium during a World Series game but in Charleston, SC when Boeing announced that they had chosen its North Charleston, S.C., facility over Everette, WA as the location for a second final assembly site for the 787 Dreamliner program. charleston your home: 2007 Housing Sales - Fourth highest on record - 01/14/08 10:48 AM
With all the gloom and doom being reported by the media, without much of a balanced view I thought it would be interesting for everyone to see the recent figures coming out from the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors (CTAR). Although tri-county home sales in 2007 fell short of 2006 and 2005 numbers, housing sales figures for the year were still the fourth highest in history for the region. There were 12,688 homes sold in the tri-county area in 2007, compared with 14,240 homes sold in 2006 and 15,740 homes sold in 2005, the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors reported.Sales for 2007,

charleston your home: Thankful - 11/22/07 11:24 AM
(© 2003 - 2007 Niles McMaster. All rights reserved) Gandhi told us “The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problems.” Don’t get me wrong, it’s wonderful to spend one day being thankful, but it’s another thing entirely to actually be thankful every single day of the year, long after all the turkey and fixin’s has been consumed. Why not resolve today to not only live a life of thankfulness but to be the “change you wish to see in the world.” Happy Thanksgiving!

charleston your home: Carolyn’s Sophia Institute Experience - aka Carolyn Writes A Blog! - 08/29/07 01:22 PM
This past spring I was given the opportunity to experience the Sophia Institute in all its glory. I was privileged to attend the second annual luncheon event held downtown in the Marriott Hotel that was not only a fundraiser for the institute but a wonderful “friend raiser” as well.To be surrounded by so much estrogen in the room was extremely comforting. It warmed my heart to hear educated and experienced women from so many different backgrounds talk about their life experiences, and how they were making a difference in our world today. It was there that I met the founding director of

charleston your home: A picture tells a thousand Stories Part III Aka... the Good the Bad and the Ugly! - 05/22/07 08:30 PM
Since Part I & Part II were such a success (lol – the least read of all my blogs ever!) I’ve decided to cap it off with the highly anticipated Part III in my series "A picture tells a thousand stories Aka... the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”When I first started in real estate I put my picture on my business cards, and all my Ads because that’s what everyone else did. My mentors and fellow Realtors® said that was what I should do. I was new to this profession having come from the advertising world, and I didn't really

I just received the following Press Release from my local board regarding April stats for the Charleston, SC market, and thought I would share with you. Charleston, S.C. (May 10, 2007) – The real estate market in Charleston experienced a decrease in units sold of 15% over April 2006, as the market continued to correct from record highs of 2005 and 2006. charleston your home: Homeowners' Insurance Reform Passes the House - 05/11/07 08:54 PM
I just received the latest Quality of Life report from SCAR (South Carolina Association of Realtors), which had some rather important news regarding Coastal Property Insurance and thought it would be of interest. Here is an excerpt: On Wednesday, the House unanimously passed H.3820, the Omnibus Coastal Property Insurance Reform Act of 2007. This represents tremendous progress on this issue which legislators have been discussing since before the 2007 legislative session began. Specifically, H. 3820 provides tax credits and deductions, creates tax-free savings catastrophe accounts, offers premium discounts, expands cancellation notice requirements to 60 days, grants emergency powers to the Director of

charleston your home: Park Circle Restaurants - 05/09/07 09:51 AM
If you haven’t explored Park Circle by now, you really should. It is this great neighborhood rife with great real estate opportunities and includes the Historic North Charleston district of East Montague. Food is a good catalyst to visit. So let’s explore the fare: Sesame:The newest venture from the locally popular Five Loaves team, Sesame is a burger joint first and foremost. They use quality beef that they grind in house, which means you can order to temperature; a rarity among local restaurants. If that in itself isn’t motivation to check it out, here’s the kicker - they make their

charleston your home: A Picture Tells a Thousand Stories - Part I - 05/09/07 09:00 AM
People who know me well like Josh and Helen of Fuzzco (CYH’s fearless and extremely creative agency) can attest that I can’t stand the fact that the Real Estate world seems hell bent on preaching the importance of displaying one’s mug shot anywhere and everywhere. As a protest Fuzzco and I even came up with the now infamous “Don’t Judge a Realtor by their Picture” campaign, which was officially banned by the omnipresent Post and Courier, but I’ll save that story for another Blog!So it must have come as a complete shock to J&H to hear me say “can you guys
