Last weekend a tornado blew through my adult home town. It was awful and more damaging than the news lead on. A farm where we lived while saving to build our first home was hit by trees and the barn roof and outbuildings gone. A house across the street was taken off it's basement and moved to total destruction. I know they refer this area as "tornado alley" but never in my wildest nighmares would I have thought that this could happen.
The destruction was wide and extensive. And the very next day, the people of Dundee, and friends and family were recovering. Glad there were no deaths...helping neighbors...helping anyone who needed help.
The RED CROSS of Monroe and the SALVATION ARMY was there to assist those in need. The Salvation Army serving meals to homebound seniors that lived in an apartment building where my own father lived til the end of his life.
Real estate is stressful these days. Foreclsoures, short sales, problems with appraisals...it's just not as fun as it used to be. But when one sees people suffering from their loss...and the human spirit willing to work and help and survive this tragedy....makes me glad to be a Realtor...glad to help people find and own a home. Realizing that a house is just shelter...but a home is where memories and happness happens.
