Internet Exployer out and Firefox in! - 05/30/08 10:34 AM
Has anyone been having trouble with internet exployer 7? Ever since I allowed my computer to automatically down load it, I have been having trouble. That combined with an antivirus program has just about  driven me crazy!
My company just started using a computer geek(who is super smart) to take care of our network and computers. After looking at my computer the first thing he said was that Internet Exployer needs to go. He has had nothing but trouble also. That made me start feeling better! He also said that the antivirus program I was using was not really good at … (12 comments)

Influx of new people moving to Dyersburg,Tn - 05/29/08 12:26 PM
Last year and the year before, many many people chose to relocate to Dyersburg from Florida. We also got our share of people who relocated from California. Those have now slowed to a trickle. Before, they were selling their overvalued properties and buying value priced properties in Tennessee. This appeared to be the norm across the state. Now with the real estate market collapse, they are unable to sell their properties and reinvest in Tennessee.
The new trend I am seeing is people moving here from Nigeria. I am running into a lot of new faces and many have that distinct British accent. … (6 comments)

Video of Tennessee lakefront properties-Lakewood! - 05/28/08 05:37 PM
After a lot of trial and error(mostly error) I believe I have finally put together a decent video. I actually shot several videos and took several pictures and merged them all together using the Mixpo Activerain video technology. I would like to personally thank Brad Andersohn for helping me overcome all the obstacles which are part of the learning curve for Mixpo Activerain video. I will return with a later post and discuss some of those hurdles that I think I have now mastered!
This is a video of the "Lakewood" community located about 4-5 miles north of Dyersburg,Tennessee. … (14 comments)

Just noticed that 160 of our members are logged on right now. I would like to personally wish you a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. It appears to me that you also chose to stay home because of the gas prices.
I like it at home and enjoy not being out on the road!

First try with Mixpo! - 05/19/08 05:01 PM
Last Friday I signed up for a month of Mixpo video so see if it is for me!
I spent quite a bit of time today exploring the Mixpo site to see what is available! One of the areas that really caught my eye was the gallery of pictures and videos that are available for use by Mixpo members.
As you can see here, the shark swimming caught my eye so I grabbed that short video and used it for this post and included some of my own pictures with it.
I have been using Vimeo for several videos that I have shot but … (16 comments)

Doing several "free" BPO's to help those trying to refinance! - 05/19/08 09:55 AM
Just wondering if other Realtors here are getting lots of requests to do free BPO's for homeowners looking to refinance out of a "bad" loan?
The latest request I got is for a lady who bought her home over 2 years and even borrowed more money to remodel it. The proplem she has run into is the "now" high interest rate associated with her mortgage.
I did not sell this lady this house or encourage her to get this b-paper loan. However, I am seeing many many in this same situation and I see it as one of our jobs as Professional Realtors … (8 comments)

Dyersburg Tennessee Chamber of Commerce recognized again! - 05/19/08 09:35 AM
A few days ago the Site Selection Magazine disclosed the top ten economic groups across the United States. Although Dyersburg,Tn did not make the top ten list, we did however make the honorable mention list right behind the top ten. Dyersburg came in right behind Dallas Ft. Worth and ahead of Houston. That is quite an accomplishment for a small micropolitan area like Dyersburg,Tn.
The Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce was recognized back in 2005 by the Site Selection Magazine as being one of the top micropolitan areas of the country. The local chamber was actually tied for twentieth place across the … (2 comments)

Dyersburg real estate market update for period ending May 15th, 2008 - 05/16/08 10:10 AM
For the last several weeks, real estate sales(in Dyersburg area) have been going up in numbers of pending and closings.
The sales numbers for Carousel Realty agents is up substantially from this time last year.  Last year our total sales numbers were $7,165,209 and currently our numbers stand at $4,020,890. If my projections hold, Carousel should sell about $9,000,000 this year.
What is driving this numbers? Just over half the sales currently are either REO owned property or bank foreclosures. Also, rental property is starting to sell. Usually rental property is the last to recover after a slowdown.
I have also noticed a … (6 comments)

Meet my Wednesday night classmates studying "Grace" - 05/15/08 12:02 PM
Meet my Wednesday night "Grace" class members from Mike Frazier on Vimeo. A couple of months ago, I told Nicholas Goglucci  that I was teaching a class on God's grace. He asked me to blog about what we are learning so here is just a short blog about the class as we are finishing up our study on Grace!
Last night we reviewed just briefly our lesson from last week which was Romans 1:21-32.

News about Dyersburg Tn training impresses Google! - 05/14/08 11:35 AM
Yesterday I received a couple of Google alerts about new information just indexed on Google about Dyersburg Tn real estate. I went to take a look(yesterday) and there were two new posts that were indexed on page 3 for that search term. Both were written by Activerainers who attended the "first" Annual Activerain Training in Dyersburg Tn. Today I went back to look and those were "gone". I suspect that if the Activerainers that wrote them were more popular with Google, they would still be there today!
The point is though, this "fresh information" hit Google and Google indexed it on … (5 comments)

Moving to the Dyersburg Tn area-Why should you hire the Carousel Realty team? - 05/13/08 04:17 PM
I am glad you asked!
Carousel Realty was started in 1998 making us one of the oldest existing real estate firms in Dyersburg. From the very beginning I have strived to make Carousel Realty different from all the rest. They say the best way to creat a great business is to mimic other successful businesses.
After analyzing real estate firms across the country, I came to the conclusion that training is the most important factor in having a "Great" real estate office! After training and receiving my real estate license in 1992, I began training to receive different real estate designations.

Brad Andersohn is "one great trainer"! - 05/08/08 04:20 PM
Brad Andersohn asked each of us to do this post while sitting in this training class!
I want to especially mention Jan Evett who came from Panama City,Florida for this training! I also want to recognize Vickie McCartney who drove in from Owensboro,Kentucky. Also in attendance and driving quite a distance was Larry Brewer from Nashville,Tn. In addition to several of my agents in attendance, others included David Saks from Memphis,Tn. , Pat Cummings and Janice Reed from Brownsville,Tn and Gretchen Whitlow from McKenzie,Tn.
We covered lots of material and many took notes. We talked about profiles, posts, hyperlinks, and spent a lot … (25 comments)

Is there really over 10,000 people on Activerain right now? - 05/05/08 01:19 PM
I just looked up and noticed that there are over 10,000 people on Activerain. I then pulled up the members that are currently logged in and that number is 292.
Are there this many "outsiders" viewing us here on Activerain? I know we are doing lots of posts filled with useful information. Are all these people "looking for information supplied by us"? I did a related post  back in January discussing the possibilities of potential clients on Activerain.
I would love for Brad or Bob or one of the other staff members at Activerain tell us if they believe there are really this … (9 comments)

I cannot take a check for mowing your yard! - 05/01/08 08:24 AM
I had a guy come in my office a couple of days ago and just about begged me to let him mow some yards. Of course I had compassion for the guy so said sure, I will start letting you mow some of the properties I manage and some of my own properties.
I directed him to one of my properties(between tenants) and he got started mowing. He drove back to the office and said he was out of gas and needed some gas money so I helped him out. Once he finished the mowing and weed-eating, I inspected the job and … (33 comments)
