Lucky Me- Mom had a gift certificate to Lil Cucci's and she took me there for lunch. I love this Italian Restaurant in Forest, Virginia. Lil’ Cucci’s is owned by Maurizio and Shari Cucci and has a great family atmosphere. Not only are you greeted by Maurizio when you enter the restaurant, he calls you by name.

Time to break out the Tom Brady Pez Dispenser- after two years the MAN CAVE is finished and we were down to pricing custom TV cabinets - YIKES, more than the cost of the TV - so on to Plan B. The county seat of Campbell County, Virginia- located in Rustburg, is named after Jeremiah Rust who donated 50 acres of his land to create the village in 1784. Less than 10 miles outside of the city of Lynchburg, Rustburg is still a small town, with a population under 9,000. There is a lot of new construction going on and many of the government buildings have recently been built.

I love football and though our hopes for the year were dashed early with Tom Brady's injury, the Patriots had a great year, ending with an 11-5 season. After a rough start, Matt Cassel proved himself to be a pretty good quarterback too. Watching the games every week and fantasy football with friends and family we enjoyed this season and the playoffs. And my husband didn't bring the toilet bowl award home this year.
Now it's down to one game.

It's winter in Central Virginia and the burning question the kids will be asking; Is there school today? The counties surrounding Lynchburg, Virgina are large and while we don't normally have a lot of snow, black ice on the roads can be a hazard. Though the streets in your neighborhood may be clear, there may be dangerous conditions elsewhere.

Volunteers are needed for this years Annual Take Pride in Smith Mountain Lake Cleanup Day at Smith Mountain Lake.  This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors, have fun and give back to the community.
The 22nd annual clean up day is a joint effort of the Smith Mountain Lake Association, Tri-County Lake Administrative Committee and the SML Chamber of Commerce. The entire community can get involved in cleaning up the lake and shore to keep it safe for boating and water sports this upcoming season. One thing I love about living in the Lynchburg, Virginia area is when snow's a'comin' it's an event. We don't have snow that often and watching the flakes fall has always been magical to me. There's a run on bread and milk at Kroger, the mall and schools close down and we stay inside in anticipation of the flurries to come. One of my neighbor's plows our driveways- of the TWO OR THREE INCHES of snow we might receive. It usually warms up the next day and all traces of the white stuff are gone too soon.

Maybe it's because it's cold outside but I've been making this dish a lot recently. This is the Mediterranean Plate you'd find at one of the beachfront restaurants in Sayulita, Mexico. (If you've seen the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua, you've had a brief glimpse of Sayulita). Except for the Tahini, this is a healthy (and vegetarian) lunch.

The plate consists of:
Hummus Feta Cheese Olives Roasted Red Peppers Toasted Pita Bread Carrot Sticks Cucumber Wedges
