Happy St Patrick's Day! My family and I were fortunate enough to travel to Ireland several years ago. We were so happy to visit the home of our great-grandparents. Ireland is a beautiful country whose population is increasing and economy had been thriving (prior to the current economy). I often think of our ancestors who left during the famine with the hope of a better life in Canada and America. My husband's family and mine were from County Cork .
Even if you're not Irish by birth (Like St. Patrick himself), get into the spirit and wear some green today!

There are many small wineries in the Smith Mountain Lake area, but up to now Franklin County, Virginia hasn’t been known for its wine (though it is well known for distilled spirits……but that’s another story). In December, 2008, H.T. and Rhonda Page opened the first winery in Franklin County to bottle fruit wines: Brooks Mill Winery in Wirtz.

It's still winter in Central Virginia and the burning question the kids will be asking tonight - Is there school tomorow? The Weather Channel is forcasting LOTS of snow for the Lynchburg area: There is a winter storm warning for Lynchburg and surrounding counties until 11am March 2.
WSET.COM is forcasting 5-10 inches in Central and Southside Virginia by morning.  The counties surrounding Lynchburg, Virgina are large and while we don't normally have a lot of snow, black ice on the roads can be a hazard.   The streets in your neighborhood may be clear, but there may be dangerous conditions elsewhere. … (16 comments)
