Brooks Mill Winery- Wirtz, Virginia There are many small wineries in the Smith Mountain Lake area, but up to now Franklin County, Virginia hasn’t been known for its wine (though it is well known for distilled spirits……but that’s another story). In December, 2008, H.T. and Rhonda Page opened the first winery in Franklin County to bottle fruit wines: Brooks Mill Winery in Wirtz.
Blackberry and plum are the varieties currently available. Blueberry and pear are aging in the barrel and have not been bottled as yet. Bottles are $10 plus tax and wine tastings are (1 comments)

realtor: Serious Snow Expected in Lynchburg, Virginia - School Closing Info - 03/01/09 04:40 PM
It's still winter in Central Virginia and the burning question the kids will be asking tonight - Is there school tomorow? The Weather Channel is forcasting LOTS of snow for the Lynchburg area: There is a winter storm warning for Lynchburg and surrounding counties until 11am March 2. WSET.COM is forcasting 5-10 inches in Central and Southside Virginia by morning. The counties surrounding Lynchburg, Virgina are large and while we don't normally have a lot of snow, black ice on the roads can be a hazard. The streets in your neighborhood may be clear, but there may be dangerous conditions elsewhere. (16 comments)

The Grand Ballroom is booked solid in April for wedding receptions and graduations so these Friday night events are limited. The Grand can accommodate over 300 people and include food, (1 comments)

When working with a new buyer, many ask me to search by a specific school district such as Brookville. Those looking to move to Campbell County benefit from a low tax rate of .43 per $100 assessed value. According to schooldig.com, Brookville High School Ranks 16th out of 303 public High Schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
