If you're a college student looking for something fun to do after hours in Lynchburg, check out today's Lifestyles section in the News and Advance. You'll find a story about the dances held on Friday nights at Machu Picchu Peruvian Restaurant. Owner Elsa Duran has been wonderful about letting the students use her restaurant and the dances always draw a crowd.There is a $3 charge, no partner is required and no alcohol is served.

If you're looking for a great little restaurant, check out Donald's Bagels & Bites. I love bagels and this is one of my favorite places to buy fresh bagels (a baker's dozen for $6.50!) and get a great cup of coffee in Lynchburg.

The Neighbors Place is one of Lynchburg's most popular local restaurants and one of my personal favorites. Located in the neighborhood of Wyndhurst, it is family friendly and has a relaxing atmosphere. The kitchen is open and busy and you can watch the chefs preparing your meal. The menu offers a variety from steaks and chops to homemade pizza and pasta dishes to salads, burgers, sandwiches, and wraps. There is a separate, full bar, outdoor seating and take out with call ahead ordering. Great appetizers including spinach artichoke dip. Another Dining option in Lynchburg- Machu Picchu Peruvian Restaurant
Noting the lack of diversity in the dining choices in Lynchburg, recent resident Elsa Duran decided to do something about it. After moving to Lynchburg from Northern Virginia two years ago, Duran opened Machu Picchu in March on Fifth Street. Machu Picchu features authentic Peruvian cuisine including Causa de Mariscos, Choritos a la Chalaca and rotisserie chicken. Duran, of Lima, Peru imports ingredients including chilies from her homeland. If you're looking for a restaurant serving authentic ethnic food, check out Machu Picchu.
