Huggins Hospital is ready to move forward with its plan for expansion next spring. All the previous issues with abutters have finally been resolved. The new building will save enough money to cover the deficits that have been occurring plus increase its revenues. On November 13th the Barnstead Board of Selectman met and discussed new building permit fees. The following fees were proposed, unanimously voted upon and then adopted: New homes (stick built or modular) with 3500 square feet or more will have a building permit fee of $1200. New homes with 3500 square feet and under will have a building permit fee of $800. Previously, the impact fees for a new home were $800 regardless of size. New mobile homes will be charged $400.
