REPosted with Permission:

Hi all - this summer the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company and the Victor Lowell Thomas Museum will be offering expanded gold mine tours. Starting June 1 gold mine tours at the museum will feature the operations of Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company. Tours will offer the chance to see giant haul trucks, shovels and drill rigs in action in the large surface mine between Victor and Cripple Creek. All proceeds go to the museum so this is a way to take a great tour and support the museum.  We would like to place a link to the … (1 comments)

As Roberts turned to leave, Brooks came up behind him and gave the hapless man a good whack … (0 comments)

colorado: Disclosure...Are You or Aren't You? - 02/08/10 08:26 AM
Ok.  I don't know HOW many times I try to tell people, but you HAVE to qualify prospects BEFORE you take them out on a showing!
Sure, you have a GREAT property to show..BUT....did you even stop to ASK this couple BEFORE you saddled up that pony and trotted them down to your property IF THEY HAD ANY UNEXPIRED AGENCY AGREEMENTS WITH ANY OTHER BROKERS or IF THEY WERE WORKING WITH ANYONE ELSE?
So when I call into the office to ask how things are going, I don't get your attitude!
Sorry, I DIDN'T DO IT! Whatever it is that put that BEE in your … (12 comments)

colorado: Hit the Brick Wall! - 02/06/10 10:30 AM
It's Happened!
My Buyer, whom I had been working with since October, got DQ'd! Coming down to the wire, headed for the home stretch and on the final Loan Conditions Deadline I got the word...or, words......USDA denied the loan!  ONE WEEK from closing!  In fact, I had JUST walked out of KOHLS after picking up what I thought was a nice little CLOSING GIFT for the guy!
UGH.  I felt like I had been KICKED IN THE GUT by a MULE!
So I beat feet up to the Lenders locale which was in the Beauty Shop and sat and brainstormed … (0 comments)

colorado: CO Detectors-Are You Up To Date? - 04/18/09 09:04 AM

This year, in the light of the tragic deaths of the Lofgren Family and a DU Student by Carbon Monoxide poisoning ( http://www.denverpost.com/search/ci_11984173) Governer Ritter has signed into law HB 09-091, otherwise known as the "Lofgren and Johnson Families Carbon Monoxide Safety Act".

Briefly, the bill requires all single and multi family homes that are offered for sale or transfer after July 1, 2009 to have a working Carbon Monoxide Detector within 15 feet of any room used for sleeping.  The Bill goes on to further define the Law.  Full text of the bill can be read here: http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2009a/csl.nsf/fsbillcont3/8CA7AA87F3BED22D8725753700718548?open&file=1091_enr.pdf

colorado: Spring Cleaning at the Ranch - 04/13/09 08:57 AM
Yesterday was a typical Easter for us in the High Country.  I woke early to let the dogs out, start the coffee and brush the demanding cat.  She won't shut up til I give in give her a good brushing.  It was, as usual, still dark outside.  I stoked the fire, glad to see the 20 yr old daughter that refuses to work had loaded wood into the fire before retiring, which is usually sometime right before I get up.  Then I sat down on the computer to pull up my e-mail and check my daily horoscope.  Typical daily routine for … (7 comments)

colorado: Springtime Feeding - 03/31/09 10:31 AM

Its a brisk morning here in the Central Rockies near Guffey, Colorado.  Sun's shining, breeze is breezin, birds are birdin.  Ducks on the pond, a sure sign that Spring is here and always a welcome sight!  So, as I type these words and gaze out over the landscape beyond the ruination we call a garden towards the pasture, I am today also contemplating pulling a bale out for the horses.
Let me explain.  I am running 5 head out here, on 105 acres.  BLM standard grazing recomendations for this "neck of the woods" call for 1 Animal Management Unit for every 15 … (3 comments)

colorado: Springtime in the Rockies! - 03/29/09 10:17 AM
Sprintime in the Rockies!  A wonderful time of year!  Beautiful crisp clear days interspersed with howling blizzards!  Ain't it great!  We just had our first really serious blizzard here in the Central Mountain Area, all that snow you see on the news got stuck on them ski slopes and rarely made it here....until now.
This was really just a baby blizzard, really!
When the news gabbed about it endlessly for days and predicted 1-2 ft of snow, folks in town got all excited!  We always do in a blizzard!  It could mean a couple of things to us....it could be a … (2 comments)

colorado: Heart of the Rockies, Cripple Creek, Colorado! - 03/26/09 07:28 AM

"Yonder Lies Cripple Creek" read the billboard as I wound my way through the Ute Pass west into the Rocky Mountains that fateful day in 1990.  Cute sign I thought and gassed the truck.  Up and over Bluebird Hill and onwards over the two lane highway that led up, up, up into the mountains, through the single lane train tunnel finally exploding out the top of Tenderfoot Hill overlooking the spectacular town of Cripple Creek, Colorado!
It was love at first sight!
Little was I to know that Yonder lay my Future!

Cripple Creek, Colorado, back in 1990 was a bustling tourist day … (0 comments)

colorado: Goodbye to an Awesome Actor! - 04/06/08 09:54 AM
I got the news this morning. Charlton Heston died.  What a way to wake up to the day!  It made me sad as the news report briefly outlined his career and highlighted his most famous roles as Moses in "The 10 Commandments" and "Ben Hur".  Fox News has a great obit on their news page http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,346965,00.html
"I have a face that belongs in another century," he often remarked. I concur.  His craggy good looks and lean, muscular body fit well in some of my favorite roles, as the astronaut in "Planet of the Apes" and several westerns of forgettable fame.  Who could … (1 comments)

colorado: Find a Better Deal! - 03/18/08 08:12 AM
Yes, she's a bit of a plain jane!  All this home needs is someone to come in, decorate and make it their own!  Nestled High in the Rocky Mountains with water piped in from the base of Pikes Peak, this home sits on 1.08 acres thick with Aspen and an unlimited view of meadows, streams and wildlife!  The view is protected by greenbelt, so that means no one will build in front of you and wreck this view!  Wonderful!
Built in 1991, 960 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 2 car attached garage, radiant heat, seriously insulated top and bottom, 2 … (0 comments)

colorado: Its Happened Again! - 03/16/08 03:11 PM
It's Happened Again!
Another Equine Rescue has had to be "rescued" from itself!  What is going on in this world?  These folks meant well, but became overloaded with "rescue" horses and consequently some died at their place and now these folks are facing 22 charges of animal abuse!  So, my question is, what is your opinion?  What causes this to happen again and again and again?  I hear more about Rescue Operations going under, owners being charged with abuse, when, in reality, these poor folks are caught up in the 'save ol' dobbin' from the awful fate of what?  Death?  Instead … (7 comments)

colorado: Cripple Creek Ice Festival! - 02/15/08 01:16 AM

Ok! Here we go!  The Cripple Creek Ice Festival kicked off last weekend!  This was a great Ice Carving Demonstration and Display by some of the nations top ice carvers.  None of whose name I can remember!  I spent way too much time at the Ice Bar, but I did actually get a chance to take some photos.  They were still working on the carvings when I got there.  People were wandering through the streets, visiting, kids playing and families walking dogs, kids, grandmas etc.  The photo on the top right is the Centerpiece of the festival; a 15 ft hi … (4 comments)
