Backcountry Wilderness 1/2 Marathon : Things to do in Highlands Ranch The second annual 1/2 marathon in Highlands Ranch takes place this Saturday November 13, 2010. This is an amazing course utilizing the Douglas County and new HRCA Backcountry trails. The race starts at 6,000 ft. It goes up to a high point of 6,400 ft and then back down to 5.900 ft... all before the turn around. It is not a lot of elevation gain, but there is alot of up and down. This is a challenging course with 95% of it on dirt trails. Dogs and strollers are not allowed.
