carsonvalley: Four Good Seasons in Carson Valley, Nevada - 01/24/09 08:01 PM
A wonderful place to live, the Carson Valley is blessed with four good seasons. Summers are warm, not hot. Winters are cold, not bitter cold. Once in awhile there will be an exception and a summer day will get hot, but when the sun goes down it cools off immediately. The same goes for the winter weather, we can get an exceptional cold spell ... the kind that brings snow to Las Vegas ... that will let you know you're alive. Recently we got a half an inch of rain. Given that we haven't seen much, if any, precipitation for months

carsonvalley: Bird ... Bird ... Bird! Bird's The Word! - 01/23/09 09:29 PM
It's a very soggy January day in Carson Valley but there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon! The, "One and Only", "Original", "Best in the Nation", poultry catalog arrived today! MURRAY McMURRAY HATCHERY Five years ago we made a major life change and moved from a 7,000 sq. ft. lot in the center of town to 5 - now 10 acres! That's a blog of a different color and some day I'll write it, but suffice to say, here we are living the "Dream Book" life we designed. Part of that design included chicken, ducks, turkeys and geese! We

carsonvalley: NO! ... It Does Not Help to Advertise House Listings In Other Cities? - 12/21/08 07:10 AM
We haven't seen an offer ... should we advertise in California? We've heard this question many times over the years and our answer is still NO with much more emphasis. We have advertised in the L.A. Times, San Jose Mercury, Portland Oregonian, Sacramento Bee, Seattle Times, etc. over the years with the same results - it is very expensive and yields zero results. It is a natural thought that such advertising would pan out, after all those are large population bases that feed our market. The question becomes ... would you look in the Record Courier or the Nevada Appeal for

carsonvalley: Winter Storms Are Coming to the Carson Valley ... Are We Stuck For The Winter? - 12/19/08 07:36 PM
Whether buying or selling, the four seasons we enjoy in the Carson Valley may impede but will not stop progress. Whether it's the heat of summer or the occasional snow of winter, serious buyers aren't stopped from looking and buying. You've read here before about our feelings of showing property in the rain and snow - we love it! Buyers that look at property during inclement weather are serious about their intentions. We understand that regardless of weather, Buyers still want to buy and sellers still want to sell. If you find yourself in such a situation make the best of it.

carsonvalley: It Isn't A "Bad" Market For Everyone! - 10/29/08 07:00 PM
One man's fortune is another man's loss. That describes today's real estate market. Unfortunately, we've noticed that many people are getting locked up and not taking action. This is most interesting since the market has swung dramatically and there are opportunities for Buyers that were non-existent just a few months ago. They will not be beneficial to Buyers, however, if Buyers don't buy. It's just like Sellers that didn't sell at the height of the market ... they bemoan their "losses", but they never had the gain because they didn't sell when the market was high. Buyers that don't buy now
