There are several tools out there for searching Twitter, including Twitter's homepage itself, but I seem to have had the best success with four simple tools:
1- Twitter Local: this Adobe Air application runs tweets in real time based on the criteria you supply. You can follow area codes and when someone new shows up in the stream you follow them and say hello.

Orange County hotels are not doing as well as last year according to PFK Consulting. June saw a rise in vacancies and a fall in room rates, yet 1 of 4 rooms have been left empty.
In the month of June, OC vacancies hit 25%. South County had the highest rate, 34.6%. Around the county, the average room price was $136.32 a night.

Summer is in full swing and the Hurley US Open of Surfing has hit Orange County! 

From July 18th to the 26th, around 500,000 people will hang out in the sand to watch their favorite surfers from around the globe compete at the Huntington Beach Pier. Even more, this marks the 50 year anniversary of the open!
