enviornment: What will the home of tomorrow look like? - 12/29/10 05:45 PM
Say goodbye to suburban tract homes and hello to the future of housing. With the population rising and increased energy and fuel costs, new housing projects will become denser and environmentally friendly. 80% of Orange County's current housing was built between 1950 and 1990 - a time when we weren't worried about increasing population and decreasing resources. Some 825,000 homes were built across large open spaces in a mass produced form. But Orange County's detached, SFR will soon be seen less and less and multi-family dwellings in urbanized, contemporary environments will become more frequent. The new home will include more open

enviornment: Who's the Greenest of Them All?? - 04/21/10 12:52 PM
So you want to know who's the greenest of them all...... Los Angeles. So says a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) study that ranked the 25 greenest cities in the United States for 2009. Where other rankings look at walkabilty, transportation and other measures, the EPA, for its second annual ranking, assessed cities based on the number of efficient buildings that earned EPA's ENERGY STAR label last year. Los Angeles snagged the top spot, as it did last year, thanks to 293 buildings in the city that earned the ENERGY STAR label during 2009. The other cites rounding out

enviornment: Could YOU Live Without Water...Bottles? - 10/01/09 02:03 PM
Do you drink bottled water? I bet at least half of you are chugging one right now or have one sitting on your desk. Ladies and Gentelemen, I think we have been ripped off. The bottled water market in America is worth over $10 Billion! Have you ever had Evian water? Spell it backwards. N-A-I-V-E. Our obsession with buying high priced water in a bottle is contributing to global warming. The energy that goes into making a bottle of water is astounding. To produce 31.2 billion liters of water for America's bottled water market took approximately 17.6 million barrels of

CFLs use 75% less energy that a standard bulb, lasts 10 times longer, and will pay for itself in 6 months. Small changes make big differences! enviornment: Beluga Whale Now Considered Endangered Species - 01/10/09 03:41 PM
The federal government has recently labeled the beluga whales in Alaska's Cook Inlet protected under the Endangered Species Act. Although the beluga whales in this location have been part of a ten year recovery program, their species keeps failing to repopulate. While there are five beluga whale populations in Alaska, the Cook's Inlet population is the only one considered by the federal government to be endangered. The issue, it seems is oil and gas exploration in the Cook Inlet, due to an estimated $1.3 billion dollars worth of energy resources. Now that the species has been identified as endangered, researchers will
