gasoline: Push Clear button when using your credit/debit card - 05/12/10 09:54 AM

I received this email today, and I don't know if this has happened to anybody, but I though I would share. Better safe than sorry!
Push Clear  button when using your credit/debit card
When using your credit/debit card push the clear button before and after you swipe your gas or debit card. People are getting really desperate due to the constantly rising gas prices. A friend just told me about something that happened to one of his coworkers. She used her credit/debit card to purchase gas at the pump. She received her receipt like normal, however, when she … (6 comments)

gasoline: Gas Prices Holding Steady - 06/30/09 09:19 AM
With 4th of July weekend coming up and travelers taking summer road trips, the threat of increased gas prices becomes a pain. However, CNN and a Lundberg Survey have published good news - gas prices around the country have remained unchanged the past 2 weeks.
According to the Lundberg Survey, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.66. The lowest price lies around $2.40 in Kansas, and the highest around $3.02 in Northern California. If you can remember back to last summer, gas prices around this time were at $4.10 a gallon! We may worry that this weekend … (0 comments)

gasoline: Could Proper Tire Pressure Save You Gas? - 04/30/09 06:57 AM

A resolution was adopted this week, by the Air Resources Board, requiring all auto repair shops to check the tire pressure every time drivers bring their vehicle in for repair or smog tests.  According to board members, mandating properly inflated tires will reduce fuel consumption saving 75 million gallons of gasoline each year state wide. In additional, this will reduce green house emissions, hopefully making the air we breath just a bit cleaner.
And thank you for making me Your Orange County Real Estate Connection.

gasoline: Beluga Whale Now Considered Endangered Species - 01/10/09 07:41 AM
The federal government has recently labeled the beluga whales in Alaska's Cook Inlet protected under the Endangered Species Act.
Although the beluga whales in this location have been part of a ten year recovery program, their species keeps failing to repopulate.  While there are five beluga whale populations in Alaska, the Cook's Inlet population is the only one considered by the federal government to be endangered.
The issue, it seems is oil and gas exploration in the Cook Inlet, due to an estimated $1.3 billion dollars worth of energy resources.
Now that the species has been identified as endangered, researchers will … (2 comments)

gasoline: Gas Price Reductions Don’t Add Up to Oil Price Reduction… - 09/19/08 10:55 AM
I'm pretty good with math.  But when it comes to gas prices I'm pretty sure that everyone is pretty good!  And for me, the numbers don't add up.  Let's take a look...
When oil was $147 a barrel, gas prices at the pump were about $4.59 in Orange County for regular grade fuel.
Now, oil is at about $92 - $97 per barrel depending on which day it is (and which financial institution is crying out for help).  My math says this is a $50+ decline in the price of oil which is about 40% off the high and gas costs … (2 comments)
