sun: Summer Sunday for Caruso - 07/31/11 10:17 PM
Today we woke up to a gentle rain and humidity...very unlikely in Southern California during July of ANY year!
Before long, the winds changed and the humidity was gone.  For a brief time, it reminded me of my days in Florida.
So, I set off to hold Open House at 46 Brownsbury Road in Laguna Niguel.

Clear skies and a gentle west wind created a fantastic day and turnout was great!
We had 11 parties through the home, 2 agent showings and 2 neighbors attended between 12:30 and 4:30 then another agent showing at 5PM.
The owners are excited about … (3 comments)

sun: Going Green at Home with Caruso! - 04/05/11 01:36 PM

With summer just around the corner, and temperatures heating up this is the time for conservation and thinking GREEN.  There are lots of ways you can contribute to making our Earth a better place to live. However, have you thought about how to make your home GREEN? To help you get started I provided you with some tips to having a GREEN home.
The first and probably most important one during the summer is to reduce air conditioning use! Air conditioning, whether a central system or an in-window unit uses tons of energy, so by using fans, keeping windows and … (1 comments)

sun: Summer Solstice 2010: Why It's the First Day of Summer - 06/21/10 05:13 PM
Why summer starts today, and why it's the longest period of daylight....but not the hottest.
Today, June 21, 2010 is officially the first day of summer in the Northen Hemisphere, and is the longest day of sunlight.

The summer solstice is a result of the Earth's north-south axis being tilted 23.5 degrees relative to the sun. The tilt causes different amounts of sunlight to reach different regions of the planet.
Today the North Pole is tilted closer to the sun than on any other day of 2010. The opposite is true for the Southern Hemisphere, which today it is … (6 comments)

sun: Legend of Hummingbirds is Meaningful - 02/18/10 12:46 AM

Legendary stories are fun to read.  Perhaps not all are completely factual, but they are still entertaining.
There is one about the Hummingbird that I'll share with you...
Legend says that Hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration.  The Hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is lifes's sweetest creation.
Powerful legend.

sun: Skin Cancer in the Winter? - 11/12/09 09:58 PM
If you think its fine to slack off on the sunscreen in winter because the sun isn't as strong, your wrong.
The sun's rays are just as harmful when the temperature drops. UVB rays may be weaker, but you shouldn't pass on wearing sunscreen. The glare from the snow, buildings, and even sidewalks can make short wave UVB waves, which burn you, up to 80% more intense. UVAs, which cause skin cancer, remain the same year round. You acquire the same about of UVA damage when your outdoors on a rainy day as you would on a sunny  beach day in the … (0 comments)

Nothing like looking at the gorgeous ocean water in Mauritius. Man wouldn't it be nice to be on one of those boats. Enjoy your Sunday. Hopefully you are able to enjoy this picture as much as I do; I like to think it says close to a thousand words!

sun: Skin Cancer Free Is The Way To Be - 10/09/09 05:44 PM

I recently read in the OC Register that the Environmental Working Group has discovered many of our favorite sunscreens do not protect us from those nasty UV rays that try to penetrate through our skin. Therefore they are working hard to discover which sunscreens will be best for you during the hot summer months. Just because summer is coming to an end does not mean we don't have to always be aware. Studies suggest that Skin Cancer is the most common form of cancer that can be found in citizens of the United States. By continually protecting ourselves and … (0 comments)

sun: October...Greatest Weather in Forever - 11/06/08 12:20 AM

OK...we all know the many reasons why people move to Orange County in Southern California.  Weather stands out as a primary reason.  Do we have 4 seasons?  Nope!  How about 2 seasons?  Not really!  It's more like 1 season with cooler nights and a bit of rain in December, January and February.  Well...it could be called 2 seasons if day was one season and night was another season.
This October was picture perfect.  A cool day was about 78 degrees and a warm day was about 98 degrees.  It was dry but not too dry, which prevented a lot of wildfires.  The … (3 comments)

sun: We've Got the Sun...and We're Using it! - 04/02/08 12:58 PM
Everyone knows the sun is always shining in Southern California, but knowing how to use it wisely is a talent.
This talent is embraced by the city of San Clemente who will use solar power to heat its proposed Aquatics Center and Civic Center.  I've recently written about how this city recycles old tires and has them crushed into a gravel mix that resurfaces their city streets.  Now they again show a focus on the future and an eco-savvy posture with proposals of energy efficient buildings.
I'm not a citizen of San Clemente, but I respect what they are doing and I have sold … (1 comments)
