Upfront MIP changing from 1.75% to 2.25%
I just wanted to let everyone know that the FHA change in upfront Mortgage Insurance Premium is quickly approaching!! April 5th is the date that FHA raises the upfront premium from 1.75% to 2.25% of the loan amount. 1/2 a percent increase is pretty significant and should motivate buyers to focus in - Simple math on a $200k loan the borrower will be looking at an extra $1,000.00 in Mortgage Insurance Premium!! What is an FHA home loan?
An FHA home loan is still issued by a private financial provider, but it's insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). Essentially, this provides the lender with greater security and you with lower monthly payments.
Why should you take a goo dlook at an FHA loan instead of a conventional loan?
1. It's easier to qualify for an FHA loan. Because the mortgage is insured by the FHA and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, lenders are more likely to issue the loan.

There has been a lot of talk about the FHA loan amount increase and on 3/5/08 HUD released the new FHA loan amounts. Below is a grid that details out how Spokane and Kootenai County are shaping up. Conforming Jumbo amounts remained unchanged. Good news for "iffy" credit and low down payment clients!
