Another Active Rain member falls down....ME

When I started in Active Rain, I rode the fence for a long time.
I didn't see any benefit for me.
But the more I read, the more I was seeing other people have success with Active Rain. So I decided to become more Active.
I started commenting on blogs I found of interest and value.
I eventually found my groove and began writing my own blogs. It wasn't easy at first, but the more I wrote the more ideas came to me to write another after another. … (50 comments)

active rain: Another member milestone -- Clint McKie hits 100,000 points - 06/01/11 04:06 AM
Another member milestone -- Clint McKie hits 100,000 points.

Clint is a home inspector  in New Mexico. He also does energy audits. Clint has been blogging on Active Rain for ten months now. He's taken advantage of a couple of contests (one in January and the recent one in March) to get him motivated to blog more. And it's paid off.
I'm just one of the many members that Clint has reached out to about improving his blog. I'm no expert, but I guided Clint as best I could. His eagerness to learn more and determination to apply … (10 comments)

active rain: I got a kick in the pants -- 31 TIMES. And it felt good. - 05/30/11 05:59 PM
I got a kick in the pants -- 31 TIMES.  And it felt good.

I've been a member of Active Rain since August of 2008. But I was very inactive, writing one or two blogs every other month. I realized I needed a kick start.
So when the I heard about the 31 Days of January blogging contest, I JUMPED in. I knew that was the push I needed to write consistently. I HAD to write at least one blog a day for thirty one days.
If I did that, I would be rewarded with EXTRA points above … (18 comments)

Active Rain members help me get my first 100,000 points.

I wrote my first blog Active Rain in August of 2008. I didn't write my second blog until December of 2009.
Then I got a phone call from Pamela St.Peter and I wrote my third blog in January of 2010 about being ACTIVE in Active Rain.
From there, my writing and blogging was spotty at best for the majority of 2010. Then I entered into a couple of blogging contests and that gave me the motivation to start writing more. And I realized that the more I wrote, … (31 comments)

active rain: Do you "SUGGEST" posts? I suggest you do. Become a called shot master. - 05/18/11 04:28 AM
Do you "SUGGEST" posts? I suggest you do. Become a called shot master. Active Rain is a community that supports itself through community involvement. We all write blogs to get noticed. We can post a blog in up to five groups for more exposure.  We write about a lot of topics including market reports, property listings, neighborhood events, personal stories and helpful tips. We hope that people actually read what we write. When we read something that we find interesting, helpful or that we can relate to, we are compelled to leave a comment. But what if you felt the blog … (23 comments)

active rain: Why do I need to take my camera with me? Just look at these member posts - 05/16/11 12:59 AM
Why do I need to take my camera with me? Just look at these member posts. I have mentioned in passing to some newbies that they may want to carry their camera with them when they are going around town.
More than once, I have heard the response  " Why do I need to take my camera with me? "
One word -- OPPORTUNITY. Have you ever been in a situation where you WISHED you had your camera with you? You know your neighborhood, but your buyers may not. Take advantage of your Active Rain blog and highlight scenes … (15 comments)

ActiveRain is turning 5 years old! This was reason enough for me to take a couple of seconds this morning to check on my anniversary date since I knew it was getting close to four years for me and to my surprise, my 4 year anniversary with ActiveRain was April 27th!!! … (4 comments)

active rain: Active rain success -- another member hits 100,000 points - 05/05/11 03:03 AM
Active Rain success -- another member hits 100,000 points.
I recently blogged about my quest to reach my first 100,000 points. I am pleased with the responses and the support I have gotten from many Active Rain members encouraging me to continue blogging and to reach that first milestone goal.

I notice another member Kristine Ginsberg just passed the 100,000 point mark and is now in the milestone club. Kristine is a home stager in Morris County, NJ and just started blogging in Active Rain in August of 2010.
She's had some personal setbacks the put her blogging on … (13 comments)

active rain: AR Guidelines -- Blog comment spam. Is it okay to add this link? - 05/04/11 01:59 AM
AR Guidelines -- Blog comment spam. Is it okay to add this link? Active Rain is a great real estate community with over 206,000 members . There is no better place on the web to get the valued information that one can get here, just by posting a blog. The conversations that ensue through the comment section add insight and knowledge to the blog topic. People reading the blog comments can gain extra value from those comments. Comments help build the blog topic into a discussion instead of a statement. Along with real estate agents and brokers, there are real estate … (13 comments)

active rain: Welcome New Member -- Nina Kuhl - 05/03/11 01:06 AM

Welcome New Member -- Nina Kuhl from Denver, Colorado.
As I was looking through the posts for the 31 Days of May Challenge - 2011, I noticed a post by Nina Kuhl. After I read her blog, it became obvious she is asking all of the right questions and is eager to learn.
Then I went and looked at her profile and her summary points. It's just something that I do. Am I being too nosy?  No, that's how we get to know each other. I would imagine that I'm not alone in doing this.
When I saw her points … (10 comments)

active rain: Welcome To Houseble.com - ActiveRain's New Name! - 04/01/11 06:09 AM

ACTIVE RAIN CHANGES IT'S NAME....makeover time
This post by Tammy Emineth was one of the first posts that I read today and it almost made sense until the line about giving away a free house. There are plenty of empty homes available, why not.
Then I read the comments and this one stuck out by Kathy Clulow.

THIS IS ONLY A TEST........  Active Rain continues to stay ahead of the curve in this ever changing CRAZY world of real estate. This is a large community and it makes sense to try something new. April fools? Yea, I can be … (7 comments)

active rain: Google Juice....I got a call from one of my blogs - 02/08/11 02:09 AM

GOOGLE JUICE...  I got a call from one of my blogs.
When my phone rang and I answered, the woman wanted to know what time my bakery outlet store closed. HUH?
Then it hit me.  MY BLOG.... I blogged about a local Aunt Millies bakery outlet in Dearborn Heights, MI.
The woman said her husband was searching with his phone for the store and a link to my blog showed up at the top of the searches. They clicked the link that took them to my blog with my picture and phone number. So she called me.

active rain: Day 31 of the 31 day challenge of January 2011.... I MADE IT. - 01/31/11 02:54 AM
Day 31 of the 31 day challenge of January 2011.... I MADE IT.
I wasn't sure I'd even make it past the first week.  Was I going to be able to find something to write about EVERY day for thirty one days? I haven't even written twenty five blogs in the two plus years I have been in Active Rain.
But I was up for the challenge. I am a competitor and I needed the little kick in the pants to motivate me to blog MORE.
The challenge forced me to think and be creative. I found myself carrying my camera … (4 comments)

active rain: NEW milestone for me -- 50,000 points. - 01/20/11 04:04 AM

NEW milestone for me -- 50,000 points.
When I first joined Active Rain in August of 2008, I saw people with 50,000- 500,000 points and thought I would never get there. Now here I am.
I took my time getting here, but I proved that I can do it. I wrote one blog the first year and one blog in 2009. I see people on here that are two months NEW and have more blog posts than I do.
When I got a phone call from another Active Rain member, that gave me a good kick in the pants. … (13 comments)

active rain: You "welcomed" the newbie to Active Rain. Have you checked on them since? - 01/20/11 01:09 AM
You "welcomed" the newbie to Active Rain.  Have you checked on them since?
We all notice when someone posts " Hi, I'm a newbie" and we comment to welcome them into this great community and get a few points. But how often do you go back and check on them to see how they are doing? One month later? Three months later? Six months later?
I realize we don't have time to check on every newbie that we see. Periodically, I will go through my old comments and find a newbie that I welcomed and check them out to see how … (50 comments)
