We Are All "Riders On The Storm" - 08/26/10 10:01 AM
For some reason The Doors song "Riders On The Storm" came to me while getting ready for the work today. Maybe it was the four day Nor' Easter we had in Boston that just ended last evening when I was sleeping or maybe it was those shocking sales reports were released two days ago. Since then I have seen different attitudes developing within the Realtor community. If you have been practicing real estate for more than 10 years this isn't the first time we had a recession or downturn in the market. This one is by no measure like anything most

Obama's Homes Made Affordable Program Lowers Interest To Absolutely Zero - 08/24/10 05:11 PM
I live in Massachusetts and I don't think my state ever votes anything but Democrat in a presidential election. I think our state motto is "Vote Democrat"...I think it's on every license plate. So when our president makes an error in judgment The Boston Globe almost never reports it. The error here are the new economic programs that are going to lift our business out of the gutter and bring back "the good ole days" when everyone could get a loan. Right now if you have a mortgage rate above 4.5% you are probably looking for a lower rate. Treasury Bills are getting

My First Political Endorsement-Cynthia Creem State Senator - 08/23/10 12:13 PM
In this new age of "every man and woman getting a voice" by virtue of the Internet and blogging...I feel that I have a right to now endorse a political candidate. Cynthia Creem who is running for State Senator in Massachusetts is that candidate. I met Cynthia many years ago when she was a closing attorney for a real estate transaction where an agent was trying to circumvent paying me a commission. Cynthia only had to listen to my story over the phone and had enough facts to make the right decision and proceed with the closing so that everyone got what

Web Site Ranking By Hits - 08/17/10 04:49 PM
I am always interested in how my company ranks against its competition. I am a firm believer that dominance on the Internet will eventually bring success to the companies that jockey for top positions...but not everything in a ranking yields a sale as we know. Nevertheless my company, Weichert and its Weichert.com ranked 21 on a list of the top 1000 sites ranked by visits the week ending July 31, 2101 by Hitwise.com an Experien company. Last week I hear we were #18. That's great but we have a long climb to be #1 which is of course held by Realtor.com. #2

Aliens Are Going To Mess Up My Short Sale! - 08/14/10 06:38 PM
Stephen Hawking is at it again...making his ridiculous predictions. He's very smart though...some say he is one of the smartest guys around. Check out this article: http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978444122 In it Hawkings claims that the human race better get packed up and forget about waiting for the closing to abandon planet earth. That isn't such a bad prediction. First of all we all know that we're doomed...when Snookie from Jersey Shore became a celeb I knew it was all over. Hawking can't lose though...he says we have less that 100 years left here...how many people reading this article today are going to remember what

Face Book Was Invented By My Uncle In 1970 - 08/14/10 06:03 PM
I guess that since I am the only heir to Uncle Karl's estate I am going to be able to cash in on one of his inventions: "Face Book". I was cleaning out his desk and there it was...all completely spelled out...drawn perfectly and literally framed and ready to be uploaded into his Kaypro computer...I must admit the thing looked more like some contraption you would use to trap mink...but it is unmistakable...Karl wrote the original business plan for Face Book. Now how much do you think that is worth...at least 10 Billion I'm sure. Now where do I pick up

$220 Million Doesn't Even Buy You A House! - 08/14/10 03:04 AM
I thought the real estate market was having some rough times around the world. Even my CastlesMag.com website is seeing some hefty price reductions inorder to facilitate sales. Our average asking prices have dropped on average about 10% in the past 12 months. Now we have a sale reported in London for a condo that is under contract for $220 Million US. Obviously someone either has way too much money...or they don't read the news very often. I bet they could have negotiated that price down to $215 Million US if they only had a good buyer's broker on their side!
