Mineral Right Sales in Western Kansas - 01/16/10 12:12 AM

Few investors have not seen, heard or felt the impact of the recent roller coaster in mineral income/values. Whiles income from producing minerals in Western Kansas, namely natural gas have dropped drastically (50% reductions in our area) values have not quite followed suit. Investors are still paying good prices for minerals in our area. While in 2008 we saw sales of minerals at 8-12 times this year we have seen sales as high as 18 times income. Conservation Reserve Program Land (CRP) Selling Well - 01/16/10 12:02 AM

Many farmers in the Western Kansas and Eastern Colorado region have expressed concern to me about the millions of acres to come out of CRP in the coming years. In 2009 alone we saw thousands of acres come out of the program and much of it come up for sale. Many feel that the in crease in supply will decrease demand. While this theory is well proven and mostly true. Currently there has not been enough over supply to decrease demand.

Western Kansas and Easter Colorado Land Sales Still Strong - 01/15/10 11:20 PM

My family's company, Faulkner Real Estate, is celebrating another record breaking year of residential and agricultural sales in Western Kansas and Eastern Colorado. We ended the year with just over 160 land, home and commercial real estate transactions on the book in over 9 counties in Kansas and Colorado. After the record setting pace of land sales, mostly production farm ground, over the last 2 years the US economy hit the wall. Many spoke of depression and the economic outlook was bleak.
