I have wanted to write a major treatise on Carbon Monoxide for quite some time.  The problem with such a project is that there is already a lot of very good, and well informed, information out there.  What I want to write about really does not require a treatise, so duplicating all that content just to get to what I want to say seemed daunting.
All this really good information is countered by articles I have come across by the very people charged with repairing offending appliances.  These persons state that levels considered excessive by the EPA, the CDC and others … (8 comments)

In recent years the push to install CO detectors in homes has resulted in them being required in many jurisdictions and certainly any jurisdiction that has adopted the 2009 or later IRC Building Codes will require them in New Construction.  Washington State currently requires them on each floor level and in the vicinity of each sleeping area when a home is sold.  In most homes this means there will typically be two of the devices but with large sprawling homes with basements and/or multiple stories there could be several more.
