deal killers: If your buyers are scared to death of Lead and Asbestos why make an offer on a 1930's house? - 02/06/12 12:41 PM

While most people know what they want in a house, sooner or later they have to come to terms with what they don’t want in a house. I am not talking about whether it is red or green or even how many bedrooms it has. Most people recognize that paint colors can be changed and if they needed a three bedroom house they most likely wouldn’t be looking at two bedroom houses.

deal killers: Public Displays of "Affection"---I must be a prude! - 10/07/11 10:28 AM

I have done posts in the past about who the deal killers in the home buying process are. Sometimes it is the home inspector, sometimes the buyer themselves, sometimes the agent, sometimes the banks---but most often it is the home itself that kills the deal.
I am sure that most home inspectors will attest to hearing some version of the following (I am including my response to each one following each statement):
1. "The house is pristine---immaculate---you won't find anything wrong." (OK---thanks for letting me know.)
2. "The house is brand new----we probably don't need an inspection but......" … (20 comments)
