good news: The economy: no excuse for fearfulness! - 11/07/08 01:48 PM
Every time I listen to the news these days, I think of that old song, "raindrops keep falling on my head..."
The stock market continues to tank. Drip. The dollar is barely getting any stronger. Drip. Home prices are on a slippery slide downward. Drip.
Bad news just keeps pouring down out of the heavens, causing America to shudder with fear every time a news item flashes into our minds. We start planning out "what if" scenarios in order to prepare for the worst. We batten down the hatches and wait, paralyzed with the fear of losing everything.

good news: Some good news - OC numbers showing sign of life - 09/09/08 03:41 PM
Word is out that of every 100 homes on the market in Orange County, 42 are in foreclosure or short sale.
That's the bad news. The good news is, OC's real estate supply vs. demand ratio has improved by 68%. To put it in real number terms, if you had put your house on the market last year, your real estate agent might have told you to expect it to stay on the market for 15 months. Today, however, you can expect a market-time of 4.8 months. That's a big difference!

I consider it my personal mission to wade through the muck and mire of all the bad news out there in order to bring you something positive. I've got something for you today!
Remember Indy Mac Bank (as if you could forget)? The spectacular fall of that institution has led many (including me) to speculate on the health of the banking industry as a whole. Will banks survive without serious bailout from the government? Will taxpayers be forced to reach into their dusty pocketbooks for cash to pay for the bailout?
