This is a Public Notice that is in the TIMES-REFORMER dated Tuesday

, Janurary 20, 2009. As a Inspector I see this issue every week.  I think this is a good article to pass around, after all Education is key. So if you know of anyone with a lead main water line and they would like to have it tested, then they should contact the Contractor ESSE ENvironmental Health at 1-877-532-3811.

Did your Mother or Father or as parents yourself ever say "get in out of the rain", seems this place can take up a lot of your time and energy that is not spent in other places. So I was just wondering how much time the rest of you take out of your day to play in the rain. And do you feel it is time well spent? Thanx, Chuck.

I was MeMe'd by Russel Ray, and right off the bat I thought of sending this to Trevor Barr. So I'm tagging Trevor Barr of Simcoe Ontario, Canada.                                                          Trevor is a Realtor from Simcoe and should have some interesting answer. So you're it, Trevor. First, join the MeMe'sso you can see who has been tagged and read about them to give you an idea of what I've gotten you into. LOL Once you've done that, just complete the sentences below however you see fit.

No copying lest the ActiveRain Powers That Be (or Lenn Harley) take you to the wood shed for a good ol' fashioned verbal spanking.

Good luck!

Halloween Safety Tips

BEFORE HALLOWEEN:

  • Plan costumes that are bright and reflective. Make sure that shoes fit well and that costumes are short enough to prevent tripping, entanglement or contact with flame.
  • Consider adding reflective tape or striping to costumes and trick-or-treat bags for greater visibility.
  • Secure emergency identification (name, address, phone number) discreetly within Halloween attire or on a bracelet.
  • Because a mask can limit or block eyesight, consider non-toxic and hypoallergenic makeup or a decorative hat as a safe alternative.
  • When shopping for costumes, wigs and accessories, purchase only those with a label indicating they are flame resistant.
  • Think twice before using simulated knives, guns or swords. If such props must be used, be certain they do not appear authentic and are soft and flexible to prevent injury.
  • Obtain flashlights with fresh batteries for all children and their escorts.
  • Plan ahead to use only battery powered lanterns or chemical lightsticks in place of candles in decorations and costumes.
  • This is also a great time to buy fresh batteries for your home Smoke Alarms.
  • Teach children their home phone number and to how call 9-1-1 (or their local emergency number) if they have an emergency or become lost. Remind them that 9-1-1 can be dialed free from any phone.
  • Review with your children the principle of "Stop-Drop-Roll", should their clothes catch on fire.
  • Openly discuss appropriate and inappropriate behavior at Halloween time.
  • Consider purchasing individually packaged healthy food alternatives (or safe non-food treats) for those who visit your home.
  • Take extra effort to eliminate tripping hazards on your porch and walkway. Check around your property for flower pots, low tree limbs, support wires or garden hoses that may prove hazardous to young children rushing from house to house.
  • Learn or review CPR skills to aid someone who is choking or having a heart attack.
  • Consider safe party guidelines when hosting an Adult or Office Party.

 FUN ALTERNATIVES:

  • Find a special event or start one in your own neighborhood.
  • Community Centers, Shopping Malls and Houses of Worship may have organized festivities.
  • Share the fun by arranging a visit to a Retirement Home or Senior Center.
  • Create an alliance with College Fraternities, Sororities or Service Clubs for children's face painting or a carnival.

Have you ever asked yourself where money comes from and how is it created? I'm not talking about the mint but the creation and value of money. I think this will surprise a few to the amount of money the banks make and how they do it. For an explanation take a look at this video
http://www.whybanksfail.com/?tag=cartoon , it is a bit long.

Hi all, do any of you use a form or CD or ?? for having and making a preferred professionals list to give to your clients. I am asked all the time for referrals of professionals from bookkeepers to web designers. Now if you make up this list do you charge the professionals to be on it, do you limit it to one or do you put more than one of each type or trade. Thanx.

OK, most of you have an answering machine, but now all of us make the best use of it. Some have the children talking on it or the dog barking or whatever. You're in business, so  please leave a message on your answering machine that lets people know you're in business.

Persistence is the only thing that stands between the successful and the unsuccessful. No matter what you do for a living, if you take the time to look around and just see which companies are doing well in your field you will notice that ONE of the things they do well is being very persistent in everything they do. To make anything work you should be persistent and consistent. Hope this helps, and good luck at what you do. Chuck.
