Things To Do In Murphy NC A Day Trip To Cades Cove Tennessee
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the most visited National Parks in the United States. I have great memories from my childhood of visiting the Indian Village of Cherokee, camping in Smokemont with my grandparents and driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
We visited Cades Cove today, a beautiful 110 mile drive from Murphy, it makes an excellent day trip when you’re visiting the area. At one time the abundant wildlife drew in the Cherokee Indians. Later, those same (4 comments)
Every September we participate in a memorial ride over to Pigeon Forge Tennessee with our riding club. We take this ride in memory of a fellow club member who passed away several years ago. The ride from Murphy to Pigeon Forge is only about 80 miles and takes you through Cherokee and through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It males a great day trip when you’re visiting the area.
This morning we started our day with no particular plans other than to (4 comments)

WOW! I can’t believe that October is only 10 days away. It seems like only yesterday that I was packing away the Christmas decorations. One of the favorite things to do here in Murphy NC happens every year on the first weekend in October. It’s the John C. Campbell Folk School’s Fall Festival.
This isn’t your typical “garage-sale” craft weekend. This two-day event is a celebration of all things “Appalachian” - a celebration of our heritage. People come from hundreds of (5 comments)
This is a beautiful story of a couple who had been looking for their dream vacation and future retirement home for years -
It was one of those rare Saturdays when nothing specific was planned. I decided to catch up on some paperwork and then clean the house. With the paperwork successfully completed I started to tackle the house. About the time I got elbow deep in my little project the phone rang. It wasn’t a local number so I knew it (8 comments)
On Friday, September 16th, 2011 we reached our goal of achieving 100,000 ActiveRain Points. For you guys that have been around a while, that may not seem like much. However, for those who have either recently joined or come back and jumped in with both feet, it may seem overwhelming. I know it certainly did to me a short while ago. Although we joined ActiveRain in December, 2009, filled out the profile and quickly sat back and waited for the leads to come pouring in. We somehow managed to wander (34 comments)
If you’re looking for something fun to do next weekend why not check out SUMMER’S LAST KISS - AN AFFAIR WITH THE ARTS on the square in Hiawassee, Georgia.
What is Summer’s Last Kiss you say? Several years ago, a group of business friends got together over a glass of wine and decided the area needed something fun to celebrate the end of summer. They planned an Art Festival to feature ALL the “arts” - music, dance, theatre, poetry, crafts, food and, of course, ART!
Unless my math skills are totally out of shape, today is the day we will reach our first milestone with ActiveRain. 100,000 POINTS!!!!. Earlier in the year we had set a goal to hit 100,000 points by December 31st. After the 30 Days In May challenge we reassessed and adjusted that goal to September 30th.
We’ve been closely watching the points accumulate this week and with bonus points from a couple of contests this is what I logged into this (5 comments)
THINGS TO DO IN MURPHY NC - THE BEGINNING OF A SERIES

Cathy, as she is affectionately known by her friends, is an exceptional professional writer, author, educator and, most importantly, a Rainmaker! Of course, she’s also a good friend and cherished client!

One of the things that we love about this business getting to help a first time home buyer realize the joy of home ownership. We got to see that happen today when Keith and Desiree closed on their new home here in Murphy, North Carolina.
Our adventure with Keith and Desiree started a little over a month ago when Desiree was referred to us by a fellow agent in one of the Coldwell Banker High Country Realty regional offices. Desiree had done her homework and had found a (5 comments)
More than any other group of buyers, the First Time Home Buyers are totally watching YOU and how you react to a situation regarding their transaction. They don’t know any different. They have no experience to compare this one too.
Imagine this - you’re feeling a little ill and make a visit to the Emergency Room. While you’re being examined, suddenly the doctor’s eyes widen and he starts pushing buttons and using codes and calling for everyone in the building. People are rushing in and the doctor keeps shaking (15 comments)
In respect of those who lost their lives on that fateful day 10 years ago, I am not going to try to write some profound prose that will send everyone searching for a tissue box. People more worthy than I have written, spoken, sung and prayed both for those who died in honor and those who lived to tell their stories.
Hopefully we have all learned a lot about ourselves, our families, our communities and our country since that day. I know we have. We learned that life is (5 comments)

This means you still have about 3 weeks to write offers on properties that will qualify and be able to close by the deadline. Several people have emailed and asked how to go about finding Fannie Mae HomePath Qualified Homes for your buyers. Just like information on the incentives themselves, the information can easily be found on the HomePath website. But it’s important to learn how (2 comments)

Historically, looking back on the Market Report for Western NC/Northeast GA, August is not our strongest month of the year. Summer is starting to wind down, the Fall Semester for College starts mid-month and most grade schools have started by the last week of the month.
As you can see from the charts below, comparing the sales for August 2011 with August 2010, the actual NUMBER of sales closed was down - 32 in 2011 vs 38 in 2010. The corresponding Gross Sales figure for 2011 was down as well (3 comments)
