Catch Me If You Can - Paying It Forward, Surf side - 05/29/11 05:47 PM

Beach umbrellas were unfurled this weekend on Ocean Isle Beach, NC and I was struck by the "sea" of colors and the multitude of American flags waving in the ocean breeze.  We enjoyed a fantastic week of sun and fun all culminating in a Memorial Day cookout with family and friends tonight.  Yippie!
The weather this week was just amazing -  temps in the upper 80's spelled great outdoor fun in the sun, jogs on the beach and beach chairs and umbrellas all around.
A few days this week were particularly breezy....and created a few challenges for folks who wanted … (4 comments)

With a world of font choices at your fingertips, does the shape of your characters impact your message?  Ok, no pun intended, but we know the "shape of your character" may impact your message, but could the actual shape of your characters, as in your font choice, impact your message?
YES!
YES!
YES!
Your choice of text font could have a major impact on the readability, and therefore the stickiness, of your website and blog site.  Whether you are creating a new post for your amazing Blog or you are building a hot new Real Estate website, fonts do matter.

Timeshares and Vacation properties come in nearly as many varieties as there are locations to enjoy them and lifestyles of the people who buy them.  Earlier this week, we looked at Types of Timeshares with a quick review of Ownership types and Usage types.  Check out that post as a primer.
Now that you know a bit more about Vacation Timeshares, lets talk about the critical factors of Financial Investment (cha-ching) and Time Investment.

It's all about Cash and Time.....

Vacationing in the Carolinas - Putting Your Cardiologist on Speed Dial - 05/24/11 10:51 AM

Vacationing in the Southern US is amazing and wonderful.  I'm a Carolina Girl, and I look forward to our trips "home" and the gastronomic delights that await.
I just read Valerie Zinger's hilarious post:

Save your heart. Don't eat the poutine in Ottawa.
I love reading Valerie's blog posts and this one was especially funny as she chronicles the heath impacts of eating those yummy, gravy-covered french fries that are famous throughout Eastern Canada.

I laughed as I did a quick mental review of our trip to the grocery store yesterday.  My husband Erich and I … (6 comments)

Timeshares and Vacation Properties - Six Types of Ownership and Usage - What's Right For You? - 05/23/11 07:48 PM
Timeshares and Vacation Properties - Are They Really Worth the investment of your time and money?  Or are they "black holes" of maintenance fees, assessments, unruly owner boards and a time gone by in our economy.  Maybe timeshares are like boats, you may want to buy one, but it would be better to just have a friend who owns one.
Timeshare 101 - Six basic timeshare "ownerhip" and "access" types.  Which combination is right for you?

Lets talk about Types of Timeshares.  Later this week we'll talk about the pros and cons of actually owning a timeshare, but lets … (3 comments)

Timeshare Vacationing: Day 1 of 7 in Ocean Isle Beach, NC: A Slice of Heaven - 05/22/11 10:13 PM
Day 1 of 7 in Ocean Isle Beach, NC has been like a slice of heaven.
This week, Erich and I are enjoying our timeshare 900 miles from home and a world away from the chilly and rainy Spring weather of the North Eastern US.
For the next week we are free of our chicken-eating dogs (another blog all together), our teenagers and our baby Helena.  Thank goodness for grandparents.  A real vacation for just the two of us and we're stoked!
We had to travel through this....

"If Hannah's Mom can take us, my Mom can pick us up".   Paving the way for a post-midnight parent car pool pays it forward for our children.
My last post was about my daughter's Prom night.  Oh the excitement of parties.  Even Erich and I like getting dressed up for a night on the town.  These days, knowing who the designated driver is applies to all ages with no exceptions and car pooling is a fantastic way to keep kids safe, save gas and even pay it forward.  See this terrific article on "Green Proms".

"Mom, I Don't Feel So Good" - Finding A Great Pediatrician In Southern New Hampshire - 05/19/11 08:22 PM

Merrimack Valley Pediatrics - InSideNH's Local Pick for Outstanding Pediatric Practice in Southern NH.
"Mom, I don't feel so good..."
"Mom, Julia's throwing up...."
"Mrs. DeVore, This is the School Nurse..."
Do any of these sound familiar?  If I could think of how to put in written form that awfully-painful, ear-piercing cry of a 3-month-old with a tummy ache, I'd add that to this list.
Having access to a great Pediatrician is critical for families with children.   The relationship you form with your family's Pediatrician may last for 18 or more years from infant stages to toddler, adolescent … (2 comments)

"May I Assist You?" Oh Please No! Why Assisted Showings May Not Be A Good Thing For Buyers or Sellers - 05/17/11 11:11 PM
Assistance is a good thing, by definition. But when sellers insist on Assisted Showings, can that extra "help" actually backfire?
Yes, it can.
Just a few days ago, I took buyer clients out to look at three houses.  They had previewed the houses on line and had learned a lot about the properties before deciding to see them.  They had mapped locations, had driven through the neighborhoods and narrowed down to these key properties.  These are qualified buyers ready to pull the trigger on the "right" house.
One of their requested listings required "assisted showings".  No big deal right?  Wrong.

Run Like A Mother - Achieve Your Goals and Recharge Your Batteries - 05/09/11 10:11 PM
We just celebrated Mother's Day.  This year my husband had a business trip that dealt a nasty Sunday morning flight.  Yuk.  Teens and baby in tow, "the girls" were on our own to enjoy a day of relaxation and recharging.
We settled in for a full day of "The Matrix"...all three movies; my absolute favoite.  What a great way to recharge my batteries on Mother's Day.
Most days, I recharge by jogging.  I'm up at 5:00am and hit the road for an hour before my family's morning routine kicks in.  I cherish this time and am selfish about having it.

Men Do Ask For Directions - Helping Mr. Subaru in Amherst, NH and Paying It Forward - 05/08/11 09:05 AM
Yes, men do ask for directions.  Maybe not by pulling into the local convenience store or gas station, but just this week I was stopped by three different folks (2 women and 1 man) and asked for directions in Amherst, NH.  Our little Village of Amherst can be a bit tricky for folks new to the area.
I remember VIVIDLY the first two weeks of life here in the Granite State.  I moved from Houston, TX to Amherst, NH in 1990.  Vermont may have more cows than people, but New Hampshire is where those cows defined the road paths on their way … (4 comments)

NH Real Estate and Home Sales Guide Salutes Local Family Owned Ciardelli Fuel, Our "Buy-Local" Choice for Southern NH Oil and Gas Products and Services

For three generations Ciardelli Fuel, has served Hillsborough County, New Hampshire with a level of customer service and community support that we rarely see in the big-business world of commodity Fuel Oil and Gas.  Family owned and operated for nearly 60 years, the Ciardelli name (pronounced CHeh-delli), is synonymous with family friendly, customer-first and neighbor-helping-neighbor.  When is the last time you thought of your Oil and Gas provider as a family member?  Crazy, I know....but true in this case. Figuring Out Four-Way Stops and Round-Abouts: Just Whose Turn Is It Anyway?  After You, Oh No, No, After You!

Driver's Ed - We all either endured that course, or somehow found the loop-hole that allowed us to skip over the course and advance straight to the actual driving test.  I was a skipper, but that was "back in the day" when, in South Carolina, we got a driver's permit at 15 and a full-blown, no restrictions, Driver's License at 16, no driver's ed necessary.
My 17 year old daughter still doesn't have her Driver's License.  No interest, too few driving hours, whatever, … (2 comments)
