Finding a veterinarian for your four-pawed family members is important, but finding the perfect vet during an emergency situation is critical. My weekly “buy local” blogs help folks new to the Amherst, NH / Southern NH region discover fantastic locally-owned businesses. You don’t have to be new to the area to need recommendations on fantastic local businesses. Yesterday, I discovered that even long-time “locals” like me sometimes need recommendations. I delayed this week’s buy-local blog by a day so that I could share an extraordinary local “find” with you right away. This week’s InSideNH shout-out goes to Ponemah Veterinary (6 comments)
amherst: Clear The Road, Share The Road, Save A Life - Pay It Forward - 04/24/11 09:54 PM
This was a blustery week in Amherst, NH. We had quite the wind storm and, believe it or not, a little snow this week. Wow, April is going out with a roar for New Englanders. I was out for a jog the day after a wind storm and noticed some debris on the road. Not huge tree trunks or downed power lines, but branches and debris that made cars move into the on-coming traffic lane to avoid hitting obstacles. I find that drivers often look at joggers like we're road hogs. I've gotten horns blown, fingers "pointed" and even yells (3 comments)

Amherst, NH: This week-end the Souhegan High School theater ensemble presented Fiddler On The Roof, a musical with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and book by Joseph Stein. Set in the small village of Anatevka, Russia in 1905, the story is largely based on Tevye, the father of five daughters who struggles to maintain family and Jewish tradition on the eve of the Russian Revolutionary Period. Bravo, bravo to this amazing cast, nearly all of whom are Souhegan High School students, on an outstanding production! (2 comments)

Every Vote Counts in Amherst, NH If you’ve ever wondered whether filling in a small circle on a ballot really could be a swing vote, wonder no more.
Town Election Day in Amherst, NH was Tuesday, March 8th. It was a miserable, rainy day and many town roads were closed due to local flooding. Folks who went to the polls on Tuesday should be commended because the extra effort to cast votes was a bit over-the-top, even for die-hard New Englanders. Article 26 on this year’s ballot is a terrific example of why your vote really counts. Article 26 (2 comments)

I remember going with my mother to the gas station back in the ‘60’s and early ‘70s. We called them Service Stations, maybe because it was all about customer service back then. The station attendant(s) would greet us with a friendly “Hi, can I fill up the tank today?”, followed by, “Would you like for me (3 comments)
Thursday is Buy Local Day – InSideNH focuses on Amherst, NH Coffee Shops and Coffee Roasters and salutes A&E Coffee and Tea
Ahhhh, Coffee. Around the world, so many of us start (and end) our day with a cup ‘o Joe. I’m with ya! I love that first cup of coffee….and usually take my first sip standing at the counter beside the pot. I actually tried a diet one time that was “anti-coffee”. What! That lasted 2 days.
Just like research that shows drinking a glass of wine each day can have positive health impacts, drinking coffee, in (3 comments)
