Cedar City, Utah is the Festival City, a great place to live, and a great place to visit. Now you have access to all of the events that make Cedar City the Festival City, with the new Festival website, FestivalCityUSA.com.

Cedar City hosts events and activities which bring participants and spectators from all over the country. Not only are we blessed to be surrounded by Zion, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Arches, and Grand Canyon National Parks, but Cedar City has created its own national treasure with the Tony Award winning regional Shakespeare Festival, which is almost as old as I am, now presenting its 52nd season.

The Festival presents four Shakespearean classics, two hit musicals and an American classic legal drama. You can catch the sparkling schedule at www.bard.org.

Preceeding the start of the Shakespeare Festival in June is the statewide Utah Summer Games, an atheletic competition for all ages and sports preferences, rivaling the summer olympics. Thousand of atheletes and their families pour into Cedar City for hundreds of events including the youngest and most senior of atheletes. Soccer, basketball, track and field, swimming, sailing, bowling, and on and on. This is a great three weeks for the competitors and those who cheer them on. Organize your own team, or challenge others in your age group in the individual events.

Big news for Southern Utah: Mormon Temple Announced for Cedar City, Utah. Mormons, and many non-Mormons, know that this is a tremendous boost for the economy of a small city like Cedar City, Utah. While the number of temples is growing worldwide, there are only a few places in Utah that enjoy the benefits of having a temple located right in town.

For Mormons, or Latter-day Saints (LDS), the opportunity of having an LDS temple within a few minutes drive, rather than an hour, or several hours away, has practical as well as religious benefits.
