I am constantly seeing items installed in homes that should never have been manufactured or sent to market.  Or once realized that they cause more damage/defects than good they should of been removed from the market.  But unfortunately the manufacturers are allowed to keep making these products and informed builders and trades continue to install them because it makes their lives easier.  And uniformed DIYer's blindly install them thinking "they sell them so they must be ok, Right?"

Beware of a couple of wiring books that are being recalled by the CPSC due to faulty instructions. They're both How-to-Books put out by The Taunton Press.  They were both sold at home improvement stores, book stores, and various other retailers nationwide from February 2008 through November 2008 for about $25. Name of Products: Wiring a House, 3rd Edition and Wiring Complete, Expert Advice from Start to Finish Instructional Books .

Just an FYI for everyone out there. Seems UL has determined that some GFCI's don't work all the time and have issued an advisory. Though they're not going to be recalling any devices nor did they list which manufacturers they come from. Which I think is really odd, at least let us know which one's to avoid installing.   Anyhow, here is the Advisory

The weather plays a big role in our everyday lives and pretty much determines what our outdoor activities will be.  A forcast calling for rain can really put a damper on a day planned at the beach or a picnic at the park.  I always joke the only folks that like it when it rains are farmers and Home Inspectors.

This post was prompted after reading Jeromes post on Coupons and I felt I may be able to offer a different perspective on this.

Here in Wisconsin we have a ton of different types of brats and every butcher makes their own version. But for store bought brats a couple of national brands that are decent are Klements (which supply the dogs and brats for the Milwaukee Brewers stadium) and Usingers . I think they both also ship. A town north of here called Sheboygan is the brat capital and have their own version as well. Mr and Mrs. Homeowner wanted to do some wood working out in thier attached garage during the winter.  But it was cold out there and they needed a low cost heat source.
