Not too long ago there was an article in the New York Times that highlighted the fact that credit monitoring services are mostly a waste of money. The article discussed an id theft victim's plight after 26 credit cards, several cars, and even a home mortgage were acquired using that person's SSN.

This is one of those cases that involve more than one area of fraud and identity theft. Additionally, it highlights the fact that you can be a victim when you least expect it and by whom least suspect. It also shows how the elderly are prime targets for mortgage fraud and identity theft.

Down here in South Florida there is an investigation into fraud that recently was discovered. The company in question is Sky Development Group and spans the state of Florida and possibly goes beyond. The details of the elaborate scheme are still being discovered and more and more victims are being added to the list almost daily it seems.

OK, while we have all heard about Identity Theft, I am willing to bet most, if not all, of you reading this believe that Identity Theft is only financially related and never imagined your medical identity could be stolen. In fact, you may not even know what your medical identity refers to.
