recycling: Reduce : Reuse : RECYCLE...Crayons? - 10/14/08 04:34 PM
A post to a local Freecycle group brought my attention to this creative little idea.  Most homes with kids tend to have a stock of crayons...so what happens when they wear down into tiny pieces or get broken?  Of course, most will probably toss them out.
How about recycling those little bits into fun-shaped multicolored crayons?  Many people use muffin tins, candy or jello molds, or individual mini cake tins to melt down crayon pieces at low heat.  A Martha Stewart webpage seems to be a resource that many refer to.

Last night, our metro area experienced major thunderstorms and tornado warnings.  Rain poured, lightning flashed constantly (and hit nearby - loudly!), and tornado sirens sounded...for at least 3 hours, starting in earnest at about midnight.  What's an awake Realtor to do but check weather.com for updates, wondering when she and her husband can get back to sleep??
While I was viewing the website, I noticed a link to an article on 10 things to Recycle That You Never Thought You Could.  I'm really interested in the green movement, and practice the 3 R's of reducing, reusing, and recycling in daily life.
