lafayette: Teeny Tiny Spiral Staircase in Lafayette Home! - 05/28/12 04:26 AM
I see many homes every week. It is the nature of my job. Sometimes I see pretty unique stuff, too, and in the least expected places. We discovered this teeny tiny spiral staircase in a closet while doing inspections at a small cottage in Lafayette last week. Fun stuff! The space is tight for sure and the steps are barely wide enough for two feet side by side. The staircase leads to the attic with two panels opening at the top. In the attic, it looks like there once was a child's room or playroom that hasn't been used in

lafayette: 232 Antigua in Lafayette, LA: Home with Guest Apartment and Workshop - 05/17/12 08:02 AM
This home at 232 Antigua in Lafayette, LA is truly a rare find in the middle of the city! The home features 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a den, updated kitchen, laminate wood floors and tiles throughout, newly updated master bath, new windows, and more. The kitchen was totally updated 2 years ago with cypress cabinets, thick granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. lafayette: Lafayette Pending Home Sales Keep Rising! - 03/16/12 05:28 AM
Pending home sales in Lafayette are on the rise, still. I began following pending data in the spring last year and have never seen such high numbers. To be sure, our home sales are up as well so far this year when compared to last year and 2010. Meanwhile, our inventory is having a hard time catching up. It remains low at this point, especially when considering the number of home sales pending in the area. If you have been thinking about selling your home, now is the time to put it on the market. lafayette: Lafayette, LA foreclosures Rising Slightly - 12/04/11 12:33 PM
Lafayette's foreclosure listings have risen slightly in the past few months while the percentage of bank owned properties sold has remained pretty much the same. In April, I wrote that the percentage of active foreclosures on the market was 4.75% for Acadiana and 3.3% for Lafayette parish. It is now 6% for Acadiana and 4% for Lafayette parish (it is 4% also for the city of Lafayette). Since April, the percentage of bank owned properties sold has remained stable. In Acadiana it is down 1% (from 14% to 13%) and in Lafayette parish it is the same at 8%. These graphs

lafayette: Playing with Photography in River Ranch, Lafayette, LA - 08/03/11 05:35 AM
I always loved photography. I am no professional but I believe that photography is like anyting else, it takes practice to become good and more practice to become great. I also have to admit that I am a fan of Teresa Boardman's blog and I love her photography. So lately, I've been practicing and playing with apps on my iPad and iPhone to see what I could do with some of my own pictures. The pictures below were taken in the Village of River Ranch in Lafayette. It's probably one of the best places to take pictures in Lafayette because it

lafayette: Village of River Ranch, Lafayette, LA - Home Sales 2006-2011 - 07/25/11 03:36 PM
Because people often ask me how home sales are doing in the Village of River Ranch, I've decided to pull the numbers for the past 5 years. The graphs represent home sales and prices in River Ranch between January 1st and July 25th each year and do not include sales of condos. The number of home sales is less than half of what it was 5 years ago for the same period. The average sales price for homes in River Ranch is down from it high of $713,846 in 2008 and is now $588,866. In 2008, at its

lafayette: Home Sales Report Lafayette, LA and Acadiana: January-June 2011 - 07/07/11 09:30 AM
It is hard to believe that half of 2011 is already gone! Real estate sales in Lafayette, LA and in Acadiana are remaining steady. Here are the residential sales for Lafayette and Acadiana so far this year. lafayette: Remembering Hurricane Katrina: 5 Years Ago Today - 08/29/10 09:31 AM
Today is my husband's birthday and this is how I never forget the day Katrina hit and ravaged Louisiana 5 years ago today. At it strongest, Katrina was a category 5 hurricane with sustained winds up to 175 MPH. At the time, Katrina was the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Gulf of Mexico. She was surpassed by Rita, which also hit Louisiana's coast less than a month later. When Katrina hit Louisiana and the city of New Orleans, it was a category 3 hurricane with sustained winds of 125 MPH. I'm sure most of us remember the devastation that
