As of last Thursday, March 22nd, the 2012 Reno burn season is officially over.  Due to dry conditions in the Reno area, the Reno Fire Department and Sierra Fire Protection have closed the permitted burn season a little early this year.  They recommend that, instead of creating a possible fire hazard with an illegal burning of vegetation, Reno citizens should consider safe, non-burning techniques to manage vegetative growth, including composting of materials (great for spring gardens) and chipping shrubbery.
