I hadn't really given it much thought until I sent my taxes over to get done a coule of weeks ago. You see I am more than a Realtor, I am a small businessman and we have continued to do well even in the worst of times because we change and adapt to the market. But since we net over the $250,000 my CPA tells me that congress has a plan for me. The good thing is it will not be truly in effect till 2011 so that gives us time to make adjustments (to stay poor as he says). I didn't realize that (3 comments)

If any A/R folks are going to Tallahassee for Legislation days maybe we all get get together. The board usually has a big cookout and I would expect this one to be no different. I have ever had to write. At our initial meeting I told you that I felt that we would do more in the first thirty day than most will do the whole time they had your property listed. We have had an auction, two open houses, a brokers luncheon, ran an ad in the newspaper, magazine, army times, have placed your home all over the internet including all the major sites and even blogged about it several times. Every year it seems I attend more and more functions, Christmas parties, New Year bashes and recently the Governors economic summit and it always seems that when people find out I'm a Realtor it leads to (as my wife says a whole night of) talking Real Estate. One will become President the other will be history. This two governors, one (Bobby Jindel) decided he would not take any of the stimulus money and the other Charlie Crist) although at first he was against it decided since a senate would be coming open that it was in his best interest to change or at least appear to change sides. Both have hung their careers on the stimulus package because should it fail, one would be betting that Jindal will ride it all the way to the white house and Crist will not be able to get voted in as dog catcher. After reading many news articles, blogs and stories about how the crisis can be solved. It got me to thinking if we can all solve this crisis then why can't Congress. I think I get it, they really believe that you can fool half the country all of the time. If they really cared about the folks, they would have put any PORK in the bill or anything that remotely seemed like pork. But they are that arrogant and think we are that stupid. I was reading a book today on economics this morning and found some of it to be pure stupidity, such as, Did you know that the government has coolers around the country full of cheese, Why? it is a way to subsidize the milk industry. Some goes to people on welfare ( back in the day we called it commodity cheese) don't ask me why. Every year the dispose of the cheese by dumping in the ocean. Why don't the give it away or to a third world country (great question) because it would lower the price on milk products thus (4 comments)

This was the headline today then the story line was.... Florida announced today that they will need 3.5 billion from the state coffers and expect 10 billion from the stimulus bill in order to hire 280,000 full time state employees to work throughout the state. The next question in my mind was what will these employees be doing, finding a cure for cancer NO, extra law enforcement agents to enforce our laws to get all the illegal the hell out of here and back to California NO, I get it extra prison guards so the prisoners will quit escaping and killing people NO. If you ran your business like the newspapers run theirs, how long do you think you would last?. Always giving the negative side of everything. Reporting only what you would have your customer believe. Giving half the facts and a quarter of the truth. Misleading headlines with no substance in the body. Making a hero out of crooks because they paid you too. taking a stand totally against your customers view. Letting money shade the truth and the reporting of it. Broker Bud and I were talking about an agent in my office that is part time, doesn't want any floor, no open houses and no going out riding around with buyers from place to place on his gas. I was talking to Broker Bud about getting listings and how much the people at the new office were saying that it was just slow and nothing happening. So we decide to try an experiment this past week. Monday though Friday we would call a 100 people a day each no matter what and see what happens. Our goals were simple 1 listing a day or 3 buyers would count as 1 listing. The first day we called using the local papers ( FSBOS) also we went after every expired in our MLS daily. By Wednesday we were calling SOI and on Friday (16 comments)

The wife and I decided we would take a cruise in April. Now we have used the same Travel agent for the past ten years. Here's the challenge the last cruise we went on we signed up for the cruises e-mail alerts. What a way to steal clients ? anyway I had called our agent and once again she found a great seven day cruise at a price a lot lower than last years. Since it is obvious that Washington could care less what the people think. What if we played the same games? Just think if Americans with held their income tax. Nothing illegal mind you, just file for extensions. Here's the effect we would have it would shut the government completely down. Where do you think they get the money to operate. Then we would get their attention long enough to probably think. Also if they shut down the government think of how much money we would save on a daily basis. Look at the people you most admire and see if you admire them because they are disciplined, chances are that it is or at least one of the traits you admire. I have often wondered why I admire this so much in others and then it hit me. It is right there, you could just reach out and touch it. Or, mabe you were successful at some point, only to go backwards loosing it all. Success or failure depends on many contributing factors of which one is your state of mind. You have to be one with success, failure is not an option. If your thought and belief system is different for the success you desire, it will elude you everytime.
