Lead Paint disclosure - 10/24/11 03:10 PM

I recently posted about things in a deal that can come back to bite you.  http://activerain.com/blogsview/2558305/the-things-that-can-come-back-to-bite-you-in-a-deal.    One of the items was the Lead paint disclosure. I got a question from Rick Ferguson about whether this applied to commercial property or not. So I did some research and out of the EPA guidelines i found
A: Section 1018 of Title X focusses specifically on residential housing. As such, the rule does not apply to commercial facilities such as daycare centers and nurseries, except where such facilities are part of a residential dwelling.
The key here is does not focus on commercial facilities. … (4 comments)

Big Canoe POA Election - 10/14/11 04:33 PM
We are electing 2 folks to the POA Board this fall in Big Canoe. I am 100 percent behind Linda Carrig and here is why.
1 I think a female perspective is important and Linda brings that.
2 Linda is for strategic planning. One example is we have a kitchen outside at Sconti. That kitchen cost 50,000. It does nothing. Now the board is talking about tearing it down and replacing it with a fire place. Tell me who is going to sit around a fire place in the middle of winter, or summer for that matter? This and other examples … (1 comments)

Referrals Gotta Love them - 10/12/11 09:03 AM
One of the foundation blocks of our business is referrals. Referrals can come from family, friends, and clients. There is also an important source of referrals that come from other agents. If you network well you can develop important realtionships in our business that can lead to referrals from other agents. There is one Big problem with the referral from another agent. That is the referral fee.
I believe that if you refer a client, you should get a fee. However think about what you are asking for. If you are asking for a 25% referral fee on a client who is … (13 comments)

Big Canoe Oktoberfest - 10/10/11 04:34 PM
This past Saturday was our Big Canoe Oktoberfest. People come from all around to have a great time. I worked part time in the Fire Department booth but mainly walked around and saw all my friends and neighbors.

The big text are for all the folks eating great German food and maybe having a beer or two. On the left were the food vendors and on the right all the exhibitors. As you can see the event was pretty crowded. We Big Canoers love a party. In the back there were fun things for kids to do.

The event … (6 comments)

Greece , who cares ? - 10/05/11 11:23 AM
I have been following the Greek debt issue for a while. You may say who cares. Well folks who own stock care some as Wall street seems sensitive to the issue. But other than that who cares?
Well aside from feeling sorry for the Greek people what's the big deal ? The problem is the ripple effect this could have. If Greece defaults in a disorderly way it may cause the European banks to have problems. It may also mean that other countries that are having problems will default because nobody will lend it them. If this snowballs it may lead … (11 comments)

The Annual concert on the green was held in Big Canoe this past Sunday. We were treated to the Reinhardt Symphony as well as their great choir. In addition a very talented Allison Holmes sang an Aria from Madame Butterfly. She got a standing ovation.

This is the venue for the concert! You can see the green below where the band set up. The Lake is Lake Sconti one of 3 lakes in Big Canoe. We all brought food and chairs and sat in awe of these great surroundings.

Here is a view of the set up for the great … (8 comments)

Jasper Georgia, Marble Festival - 10/03/11 04:06 PM
The Marble festival was this past weekend in our North Georgia Mountains. The weather could not have been better. Well maybe it could have been a couple of degrees warmer. It was fun for all . Folks who live here and folks who visit had a geat time.

There were rides for the young at heart and great fun for the kids.

There were tons of exhibits and food vendors. The set up was in Newton Park. So right after the morning parade folks went to see all that there was to see. And of course there were culinary … (5 comments)
