caar: Wiki my neighborhood? - 10/22/08 02:25 PM
Our Local Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS (CAAR) is going to start doing Wiki's for our neighborhoods.
This is one of those things where I do not believe our Association is the right group to start this process.(Actually compete in this process as others are already doing it)
1. Our Association needs to focus on the needs of it's members.
2. CAAR started a blog and it has had minimal success. Our Staff at CAAR should not be spending time Blogging, creating Wiki's or working on Social Networks...
3. Tech savvy Agents will use the website of CAAR for Branding, which gives … (10 comments)

caar: Charlottesville Tech Group - 10/14/08 11:28 AM
Many of my fellow agent and clients are aware that I am on the local Technology Group in Charlottesville regarding Real Estate and Tech issues at our Association of Realtors (CAAR) Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS. Recently we have had a flurry of issues to get resolved and it is amazing to see my fellow members and Association Personal (Thanks Chris!) on the group doing such a fine job. It takes team work to get things done and we do have a great team. Since we are representing all the members of our Association, I really feel that we need to consider each member (if they … (3 comments)

caar: MLS Alliance - what it means to the public - 08/09/08 12:21 PM

Our local MLS has expanded with an "MLS Alliance" joining with neighboring MLS's.
Powered by eNeighborhoods, an agent site has been created showing listings from several area.
Per the website: The MLSAlliance currently contains listings from the Central Virginia Regional MLS, Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS®, South Central Virginia Association of REALTORS®, and Williamsburg Area Association of REALTORS®.

So what does this mean to the public?
Licensed Virginia Real Estate Agents can sell anywhere in the state, the question is should they?

Let me give you an example.
As a Charlottesville Broker I can access this site … (13 comments)

caar: Charlottesville Mid Year report - 07/11/08 11:25 AM
Real Estate Market is as Hot as ANWR
By Dave Phillips, CEOCharlottesville Area Association of REALTORS®
Just about everything in life is relative to your perspective. Based on that theory, you could say the real estate market in the Charlottesville area is as hot as ANWR (the Alaskan National Wildlife Reserve). If you are not familiar with ANWR, you only need to know that it is a great example of being "relative" to one's perspective. Depending on which pundit you ask, ANWR is either the last bastion of American wilderness, or the key to returning to $2.00 per gallon gasoline. The … (1 comments)

caar: Charlottesville Real Estate Market Report - Year End - 01/13/08 08:25 AM
The Charlottesville Association of REALTORS has come out with the 2007 Year End Market Report!
For first time home buyers, this is the best market we have seen in years.  There are over 500 homes on the market for under $200,000 and there are special financing options for first time buyers.
Time to look at our market as a great position to enter the market, either as a first time home buyer or as an Investor!!!
I want to give you a couple of quotes and my comments on this report:
By historic standards, 2007 will go down as the 4th-best year for real estate … (20 comments)

caar: Toy Lift 2007!!! - 11/26/07 12:55 PM
The 2007 TOY LIFT is officially underway in the greater Charlottesville Area!
The Toy Lift was started 19 years ago by local business owner Tom Powell to help out families (who are in need) put gifts under the Christmas tree for their kids.
The Toy Lift has grown exponentially over the years and now funnels over 17,000 toys into the greater Charlottesville Area at Christmas.
There are REALTORS, Affiliates, and CAAR staff volunteering to help out with the Toy Lift at our Fashion Square Mall on December 7th.
They are also helping at the sorting warehouse the following weekend! CAAR is looking for additional donations to help: … (10 comments)

caar: My Charlottesville Blog...Why the name? - 11/17/07 08:06 PM

When I started to work on my website I came up with a name that would be (what I thought) Easy to remember and something that related to Real Estate and of course Charlottesville (the area I work and live in).
So I came up with http://www.mycharlottesvilleagent.com/... Now I thought this was a good name and it seems to be fairly easy to remember... Maybe a little long, but Charlottesvillle is a long name to start with.
Fast forward and I get into Blogging... So the next step is to come up with a name for my Blog site. It took about 10 … (13 comments)

caar: My Day at CAAR...amazing :-) - 11/15/07 04:39 PM
I went to our local CAAR (Charlottesville Association of REALTOR®) this morning for yet another day of class. As many of you know I am in the final stretch of my Brokers License.
Something happened today that I wanted to share:
When I got out of my Truck I looked around and something looked different...
so I grabbed my camera to see if I could capture it.....
This was what I saw on the street when driving into CAAR. I still did not think that I captured it with my camera....
......
So I looked around and took this picture right over the bed of my Truck:
AHHHH, That … (25 comments)

I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER win anything!!!
I annouced the Mardi Gras Trade Show in Charlottesville on my BLOG!
I went to the event, even though I did not have much time. Went to all the booths, talked with vendors, meet fellow agents and I threw a business card in the bowl for the drawing of prizes....
I did not even know what they were giving away.
When I stopped by the CAAR office they told me I won an IPOD!!!
Now I have to get my Son to show me how to upload to it!!!
Now I can not say, that I NEVER win anything!
