Today is the first day of school for my 11 year old son. He is my youngest and off to his first day of Middle School he went this morning. Last year the bus picked him up at the end of our driveway, this year he had to walk two blocks to the bus stop and catch the bus on a very busy street with a lot of traffic and no side walk. Home Prices on the Rise - Buyer's Jump Down off That Fence
The latest Standard and Poor's Home Price Index indicates that the housing market has made it's first gain in three years and the 2nd quarter shows close to 3% increase in home prices. However, home prices are still well below where they were a year ago, but prices did increase in both May and June of this year. This is all good news and hopefully it will continue.

The market is seeing a welcome increase in sales and settlements however despite record low interest rates and improvements in the stock market it isn't as swift as we would like to see. The number of new listings has remained stable we are seeing a slight increase in the number of homes going under contract and settling. I'm surprised I'm not seeing more individuals making the decision to buy with so many great deals available.
