Military Appreciation...Can you help? - 06/28/12 05:05 AM
Our service members do not get enough credit or enough support.  Please join Mary Kay and Bridget McGee in thanking our soldiers by donating to this very worthy cause.
And, if you are considering this perhaps your group or organization can adopt a deployed service member through Soldiers Angels to send regular care packages to someone serving this country overseas.
Our service people are deployed for 12 to 15 months or more at a time and nothing says thank you like a nice care package from home.

How Soon Can You Get A Mortgage After a Short-Sale? - 06/25/12 03:20 PM
As a CDPE I work with a lot of sellers who are facing foreclosure.  One of the single most often asked questions is "Will I ever be able to buy another home?"  Joseph has laid out the answers below nicely.  The answer is almost always "It depends".  If your home is foreclosed on the time line will be much longer and a foreclosure stays on your credit much longer, if not forever.
The best answer is to continue to work with your Realtor after the sale is finished and work with a credit repair expert to get back on track and … (2 comments)

Speechless Sunday (Almost) - Ahoy Me Maties
The USS Constellation is moored in The Inner Harbor and ready to be boarded. Visiting the USS Constellation and other floating museums such as The Chesapeake and The Taney are moored in Baltimore's Inner Harbor is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with the family.  There are guided tours available along with self guided tours.  Lots to learn, especially during the bicentennial celebrations of the War of 1812.

You Don't Know What You've Got Until It's Gone - A Tribute - 06/17/12 07:16 AM
You Don't Know What You've Got Until It's Gone - A Tribute to My Father
Coining a phrase from a popular song, I'm sure many of you recognize it.  My father, Alfred Hector Piper, Hec to his friends was taken from us much too early.  On this Father's Dad I remember how great he was and some of the high points of growing up with a Dad that was the best.  He was always there for me from the beginning.  Here are a few of the things I remember about my Dad from when I was young and from when I was … (1 comments)

Mastering Your Market for Fun & Profit - The Favorit-est Tips! - 06/16/12 06:22 AM
When you're a local expert you need to know how to get around, what businesses are in the neighborhood and you need to be able to recommend a place to stay and a place to eat.
I'm showing homes today that are in the neighborhood with a great Bed and Breakfast (that used to be a Brothel) and around the corner from some great restaurants, some that I'd recommend and others that I wouldn't.
I blog local!!  Do you?

Honfest 2012 - June 9-10, 2012

It's that time of year when people all over venture to Baltimore's Hampden neighborhood. Folks arrive costumed in an assorted grab bag of Sixties-era garb, making the entire event into one hugely entertaining costume party. Women of all ages and sizes wear vintage spandex pants, heavily applied blue eye shadow, cat eye glasses and any item of clothing or accessory that has a leopard print and, most importantly, outrageous beehive hairdos that are teased as high as the sky and supported with volumes of hair spray.
The event came to be in 1994 as … (3 comments)

Life Moves at Such Great Speed - - 06/07/12 05:03 AM
Life Moves at Such Great Speed -
Last night marked a right of passage for my youngest child, Liam Andrew Piper-Brandon as he graduated from Middle School at Ridgely Middle in Lutherville.  It seemed like yesterday when I found out that I was expecting.  I have an older son who is 26 but after he was born several top fertility specialists told me I'd never be able to conceive another child and would definitely never be able to carry to term.  So, imagine my surprise nearly 12 years later when I found myself expecting again.  And, Liam was born almost 6 … (3 comments)

What is an Affordable Home in Baltimore? Think Condominium! - 06/07/12 04:37 AM
Condominiums make more sense than you think at first glance.  Many parents of students are looking at condo's for their children moving out of dorm living.  There's not much of a transition, some buildings the condo fee includes water, sewer, trash removal, even electric and heat and in one particular building there's even a cleaning service.
But, it's not just in Baltimore, there are some great condo's in Annapolis, Pasadena, Silver Spring, Bethesda, Rockville and Glen Burnie too all of which are convenient to the Naval Academy, Ft. Meade and Washington DC.  And, condominiums are not just limited to the … (3 comments)

Which Mobile Device or Application Allows You to Remain on the Go? - 06/06/12 08:08 PM
What a great contest!!  I've been involved in the real estate industry for over 26 years now and I've seen a lot of changes in how business is done and in the technology.  I had a great time doing this challenge.

Mobile Devices in My Business - 06/06/12 07:55 PM
Mobile Devices in my Business
I’ve been in the real estate industry for over 26 years.  I’m not sure how I ever did business without my laptop and my smart phone.
I remember the days when there were no cell phones and no pagers.  Buyers and sellers were less demanding then and there was no such thing as buyer’s agency.  If a buyer wanted to buy a house they called the number on the sign and a showing agent took them to see the house and hopefully they bought it.   But buyer’s called an office not expecting to speak to the … (5 comments)

Procuring Cause - So You Want to Buy a Home - 06/06/12 07:57 AM
Procuring Cause – So You Want to Buy a House
This is a topic that is near and dear to my heart.  I’ve had a couple occasions when clients have hopped agents and I’ve lost out on my commission.   And, depending on the verbiage of your buyer’s agency agreement or buyer broker agreement this could easily happen to anyone.
Buyers are not real estate professionals.  For the most part, they don’t understand agency and they don’t understand how real estate professionals get paid.  Some even think that we are paid a salary and this is our paid job.  They don’t understand … (2 comments)

Baltimore County Farmers Market Opening June 6, 2012
I love the Farmer's Market and I count the days until it opens.  There is nothing like fresh local produce.  The taste is so much better plus by buying local you are supporting the local economy and the money makes it's way back into your own community.
My local Farmer's Market is located in Timonium, MD at the Maryland State Fairgrounds main entrance and opens on Wednesday June 6, 2012 at 2:30 until 5:30 pm until October 31, 2012.
There is a lot of variety at the Farmer's Market and most of all … (3 comments)
