technology: Sneak Preview! - 11/03/09 08:47 PM
In my last blog, I mentioned that I would share some excerpts from my new book, “Make the Move.” Here is a preview of the cover- what do you think?

The premise of “Make the Move” is to help agents who have not mastered online marketing and systematized their business using Internet tools. The goal is to help them migrate their business online. My goal is to provide you with the information I have learned over the past 7 years teaching Internet marketing and technology training to agents and brokers. I will also share with you the best and brightest … (11 comments)

technology: Question # 3: What am I doing TODAY to build MY business? - 04/24/09 09:33 PM
As CEO of your own business (most of you work with a broker, but you are in charge of the success or failure of YOUR business), you are responsible for business development:
Planning.  Budgeting.  Building Your Brand.  Marketing.  Prospecting.  Systems.  Follow-up.
Many people leave that to chance.  They say they are too busy.  But if they do not market and prospect, there will be no business - especially in this market.
Hope is NOT a marketing strategy!
Start with a plan.  You need to know your numbers.  Every top agent treats real estate as a business-their business!  Decide what you … (8 comments)

technology: Did you read about…? - 10/07/08 10:06 AM
In the Seattle Times on Sunday, Oct. 5th there was a great article by SUE MCALLISTER from the San Jose Mercury News, titled "House Hunting Becomes Highly Mobile."  The article described how "new mobile services allow users to search for homes for sale, see pictures and details about properties, get driving directions and call or email the real estate agents handling the sales."  Sue went on to list the companies delivering real estate listings to mobile devices:
Trulia Terabitz Home Finder Realtor.com Many of these work very well with iPhones.  There are other devices, like Pocket MLS for the Palm Treo … (4 comments)

technology: "How’s the Market?" - 09/23/08 08:49 PM
So many people are talking about what is happening with the economy in general and with the real estate market in particular.
Your response is very important.
Your confidence and belief in your ability to help buyers and sellers will come across loud and clear.  If you are hesitant, stressed and unsure of yourself, that too will come across.
Many people still want/need help to buy or sell today.  Will you do your best? Will you use all of your efforts to market the home?  Are you willing to learn and enhance your skills to help your buyers and sellers?

technology: Tech Usage- Growing Everyday - 09/06/08 06:59 PM
In the last blog, I mentioned some of the data collected on Gen X and Y. There were some insightful comments posted as well- thanks so much fellow bloggers!
This week I was preoccupied by the Hurricanes in the SE. My daughter and her family live in New Orleans. They evacuated safely for Katrina and returned to join the rest of the citizens committed to rebuilding New Orleans. This past weekend, they had to evacuate again- everyone was worried that Gustav would arrive as a category 4 hurricane with a direct hit on NO.  Fortunately, the storm downgraded to a 2 … (1 comments)

technology: Working with Gen Y - 08/30/08 01:15 PM
There are 73 million Gen Y, also called Millennials. They comprise 32% of all homebuyers and are 39% of 1st time buyers. They were born between 1977 and 1994. This generation is really overscheduled. They are well educated and have good jobs. Many have a fair amount of college debt.
They are techno fused!  They connect through technology.  Gen Y like instant gratification buyers & like the social aspect of shopping with friends For housing they usually look for condos, lofts and small house. They like:
Simple, clutter and maintenance free No long commutes Small yards Open floor plans Most absolutely … (2 comments)

technology: Consider an E-Farm… - 08/06/08 01:47 PM
If so many consumers are going online, consider looking at your business from a different perspective.
Think about creating an E-farm! Build a database of prospects, sphere, people from your geo farm. I know some people say real estate is not a numbers game. Actually, it is.
It is a numbers game, but a people business.  It is all about relationships and trust. However, you have to have prospects with whom to build a relationship. The more prospects you have the more opportunities you'll have for business.
It used to be that you could not handle a huge number of prospects. … (4 comments)

technology: I was born to train... - 07/30/08 05:59 PM
Real Estate has been a passion of mine since I got into the business 32 years ago. While I have been an agent and broker/manager, I especially like the training aspect of the business.  The reason is that real estate professionals are simply great. Not everyone can handle this career. It takes a unique person to be very successful in this business. You need to be tough enough to get the job done, but sensitive enough to listen to what people are saying and NOT saying.
Not everyone has the opportunity in life to find what they absolutely love to do … (4 comments)
