The Wailuna (wai loo na) Community is located above Pearl City following Kaahumanu (Ka a who ma nu) Street to the top of Waiau (why ow)Ridge.
"A bit above' flat land and sea level it is actually atop a mountain ridge. It is a breezy community settled between two valleys and wonderful views of Pearl Harbor below.

Chip and Cookie in Kailua-Hawaii: A "Celebrity" of Spring Inspiration and Positive Views - 03/29/08 01:29 PM
On a sunny Spring day my husband took a drive to a home/office in Kailua to fix a pc and he described the owner to me as a kind older gentleman. When the work day was over my husband brought home a 'sampler bag' of five different types of cookies that the kind gentleman had given to him from his store. I have had to cut my sugar intake although I decided to 'treat' myself and to let the little bite size buggers melt in my mouth....one by one...equals....four.. oops!
Do you remember Wally Amos?  Wally Amos was the founder of the Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookie although over the years circumstances changed … (36 comments)

The Future Fate of the Falls of Clyde- Pier 7 - Honolulu Harbor - 03/27/08 11:54 AM
The Falls of Clyde has cost a half million dollars a year to maintain and repair and it has gotten so bad that the fate may be to just.....sink it.
Located just to the left of Aloha Tower Marketplace at Pier 7 in Honolulu Harbor  (Hawaii Maritime Center) the Falls of Clyde is the ONLY four masted-fully rigged sailing ship left in the world!
It is a landmark and the adults and children love it although no one can set foot on it because of the disrepair.
This history behind this huge sailing vessel is as follows:
Built in 1878 by "Russel … (31 comments)

A Typo DOES Make a Difference in Title - 03/26/08 08:31 PM
I had a specific errand to run this morning. I went to the Honolulu Department of Motor Vehicles (Satellite City Hall) at Pearlridge Shopping Center to correct 'someones' mistake.  Seems that in January it was time to renew my registration for my one year old car and lo and behold I notice that my husband's name is spelled wrong. It says, GART instead of GARY.
The only "GART" I could find online was from Wikipedia....Gart is an abbreviation of The Graphics Address Remapping Table (GART) is an I/O memory management unit (IOMMU) used by AGP and PCI Express graphics cards, through which … (68 comments)

Co-Authoring a Book: "Profit From Technology - A Guide for Today's Real Estate Agent" - 03/24/08 01:23 PM
Our fellow ActiveRain member Kathi Frank first introduced us to Would you like to co-author a book? .  She asked ActiveRain members, "Who would like to contribute to writing this book?" After much thought a few of us wrote a chapter and we finally finished and it was sent to the publisher. The title (after much thought by all) is   "PROFIT FROM TECHNOLOGY - A Guide for Today's Real Estate Agent".
The Chapter I contributed is "Social Media and Blogging" and though I have written consistantly on ActiveRain for the past year, I found it hard to write a whole chapter! I finally finished with … (54 comments)

To Bee or Not to Bee....Beeeeing The REAL Estate Question Here - 03/21/08 01:35 PM

BEE a Team Player!  I love watching kiddie movies that have a learning lesson. I went to Blockbuster three days in a row and finally someone returned "The Bee Movie".  Now, imagine this half a century 'old' lady walking into Blockbuster for three days with no children, same counter lady and me asking, "Did anyone return the Bee Movie??????" and for two days a solemn face when the answer came back.....a no.
No, no and finally a yes. Like a child's sheer joy at getting a new toy, I'm sure I looked the same way at hearing the word, "Yes" and with lit … (70 comments)

Early Morning Pictures... Before Work - 03/14/08 04:18 PM

I woke up this morning and I decided to look outside. I saw a spectalar array of cloud formations with a hint of first morns sun.
With camera in one hand and my cup of coffee in the other I went outside on my patio to take some pictures.
Left:  Looking to the North side of Oahu the cloud formations were unreal with the cone shaped one poking out to reach to the sky as cotton mountain that would dissipate after time.

Looking to the south towards Ewa Beach the hint of sun on the outline of the clouds were evident of the sun just … (56 comments)

10000 B.C. - Lessons for Real Estate? - 03/13/08 11:40 AM
10,000 B.C. (the movie) came out in the theaters this past Friday and we went to the theater directly after my home inspection on Saturday. As in the past (when writing about learning experiences in movies) this was certainly a wonderful movie to gain some insight into the word "teamwork".
Set in the year 10,000 B.C, this prehistoric era movie left me with many valuable learning lessons:
In the early part of a young mammoth hunter's (D'Leh) life his father leaves the tribe to look for food (never to be seen again). The tribe was in dire need of food and he did not want to wait … (30 comments)

A Haiku & The Big Jumping Rock at Waimea Bay- North Shore of Oahu - 03/08/08 11:46 AM

Blue ocean and skies
So inviting that's true
But leap off the rock?
       --A Haiku by Sally

During the winter months at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu, there can be winter surf swells up to 30 feet and during the summer it is most likely to be calm and serene (as in the picture above) and great for swimming, scuba diving and snorkeling while looking at all the diversity in these waters!
The "Big Rock"  at Waimea Bay  has a bunch of people on the top of it who … (35 comments)

Hawaii Military Relocation Package - Schofield Barracks & Wheeler Army Air Field - 03/06/08 06:21 PM
So....you are Relocating to Hawaii with the Military and...you are going to be stationed at Schofield Barracks Army Installation or Wheeler Army Air Field. (adjacent right next to each other in Central Oahu) Wheeler used to be an Air Force base and was returned to the Army on November 1, 1991. History shows that the soldiers from Schofield started clearing way for an aircraft strip back in February of 1922 and named in November of 1922 honoring Major Sheldon H. Wheeler who died on July 13, 1921 when his aircraft  crashed during a demonstration. Wheeler Air Field became a separate base on … (33 comments)

Waikele Real Estate | Waikele Homes, Condos & Market | Hawaii Relocations - 03/06/08 11:49 AM

Waikele is located due north of Leeward Oahu (almost central on the island of Oahu)and started as a Master Planned Community in 1991 with only two townhouse complexes.  Waikele has now grown to 12-townhome and 9 single family communities.
With lush and landscaped boulevards and green parks the Waikele complexes and communities compliment Waikele with the same greenery surrounding each property.
To top the lushly landscaped community is the "Greens at Waikele" golf course.  MANY of the townhomes and communities surrounding the 18 hole golf course.
Waikele Association has its own Rules and Guidelines to follow as any other Association but it sure makes for an organized community.

The Hawaii Housing Market Depends on Circumstances - 03/04/08 02:33 PM
The National News surely depicts an overall picture (so does NAR) of the housing market that is unrealistic. Why? How can anyone believe that this nationwide report will be the same for every state, county, city and neighborhood? It is unrealistic to report that 'nationwide' it is a beautiful market to buy or sell just as it is unrealistic to report that 'nationwide' it is a bad time to buy or sell. It depends on a wide variety of points doesn't it?
How about this?

Hawaii Military Relocation | Hawaii Home Accepted Contract - 03/02/08 01:44 PM
Ah...Relocating to Hawaii with the Military is no easy task. Especially if you are planning on buying a home here as soon as you arrive and while you are stationed at one of our Honolulu County Military Bases.
After working wholeheartedly with a Military couple from Virgina (who contacted me after searching on the internet) for the past three months they finally arrived this past Wednesday. I finally connected with clients after 'getting to know them' (well, especially her because he was in Afghanistan and I didn't get to hear him until he returned a month ago) by email and phone. What a … (45 comments)

A Day in Time & ActiveRain - 03/01/08 05:19 PM

Jonathan Washburn (ActiveRain) found a post I wrote last November called Quotes from Jon Washburn .....The Social Hub and ActiveRain and emailed me yesterday to thank me since he had not read the article from Real Estate Executive Magazine either.  The one thing I really value about our ActiveRain REAL Estate Network is that the founders, community builders and staff all are willing to give their help, input and appreciation to the members who make this network happen.
The posts we write come back to life...one way or the other. This is a Day in Time....on ActiveRain that brought a smile to my face and incentive to … (50 comments)
