A Little Support Goes a Long Way - 08/29/10 02:07 PM
The significance of a friendly gesture such as a nod, a hand shake, a smile, a hug and the like is like  a day of sunshine.
Even just a few words of kindness when someone is down by an email or card can make the difference between the feeling of alone and the feeling of support.
It takes so little to do something kind for someone. Never mind the selfish reasons why you can't because when you say you can't ...it really means you won't.
Acknowledging someone for their accomplishments; no matter how small, or a friendly word of advice … (42 comments)

Tribute to Laurie Manny - 08/25/10 10:26 PM
Laurie Manny  was one of the first ActiveRain members to pick up the phone and call me when I wanted to know about titles, tags and keywords.
Laurie Manny was one of the founding members on ActiveRain that moderated in its infancy and gave a helping hand whenever needed.
Laurie Manny was still a great friend carried over to Facebook where I can chat with my AR friends and most recently she, Thesa Chambers and I were going back and forth on the Nikon P100 camera that I ended up buying because of their feedback.
Laurie Manny was loved and will be greatly missed.

Take What We Can…and Save the Rest for Later - 08/24/10 01:09 PM
Some may believe they ‘know it all' and therefore the need to educate further comes to a standstill.  I learned long ago that the learning never stops.
I had taken MANY ‘courses' for personal empowerment and though the structure of the classes were about the same there were certain areas I needed to ‘get'.  I just wasn't getting it because obviously I wasn't applying it to my life.
I finally took a risk to try something new and applied what I'd learned to my life.
It worked.
Same goes for anything we learn for real estate, blogging, social media and more. I … (16 comments)

Pearl Harbor Hawaii |US Navy Bone Yard of Decommissioned Vessels - 08/18/10 08:11 PM
While riding past the U.S. Navy ship "graveyard" located at Middle Loch in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (the Waipahu side of Pearl Harbor) I wondered how many ships were in this "graveyard". While researching I found out that this Middle Loch U.S. Navy ship "graveyard" is also known as a bone yard.

This Navy "Inactive" ship facility is just one of the three remaining bone yards for decommissioned vessels. This facility has been renamed about four times and is now known as the "Inactive Ships On-Site Maintenance Office".
The following information is of the remaining decommissioned ships in Middle Loch, Pearl … (16 comments)

Spanking Your Way to an Online Legacy - 08/14/10 04:23 PM
ActiveRain has guidelines and when negative people start badgering others there are recourses.....like notifying our staff for advice or else just zap them if they continue; though warned.   We all tell our stories and give examples in hopes of getting a second opinion. It helps if not for just getting out of our own stinking thinking.
On other social networking sites we leave our status or write another post it note to let everyone know what's going on with our business or lives.
Or we just write plain nonsense so we can strike up a conversation with our "friends" or associates … (30 comments)

Newest Discrimination: PREGNANCY and Your Mortgage App - 08/13/10 01:15 PM
Yup....guidelines keep changing and in an ever changing market of real estate everything keeps changing....
But this is ridiculous!!!

Erica Ramos tells of her recent 'adventure'..................

Via Erica Ramus - Realty Executives / Pottsville PA Real Estate:
I closed on a house today where the buyer was asked by BANK OF AMERICA about their future child plans! Not if the wife was pregnant now, but FUTURE plans.
This is a young couple moving from their first to second home. At the last minute, the underwriter (of course) requested several more forms and more information. Okay, normal.
But one question they … (0 comments)

Do You Remember Where You Came From? - 08/04/10 08:41 PM
A while back I wrote a post  Remember That We ALL Started Somewhere in Real Estate because real estate is a continuous learning process. We all start from the bottom and work our way up to be who we are today.
No matter what part of the real estate industry we are in, we ALL have started from the bottom.
Remembering where we come from allows us to have compassion, patience and understanding with those that we work with in our industry. It allows us to continue to help others who are starting from the bottom and we allow for the … (75 comments)

Bearing the Fruit of Thy Neighbor - 08/03/10 02:50 PM
Well, we could sneak around in the middle of the night and pick the fruit that's hanging over in our yard or throw the branches and leaves back into the owner's yard because they are littering our yards. OR we can just 'bear the fruit of thy neighbor'.
There are ‘known' facts that if your lychee tree (or any fruit tree for that matter) with branches that are  bearing fruit  are overhanging in the neighbor's yard, the fruit belongs to the owner of the tree. BUT there are no laws saying it is so.
Now, if your neighbor's palm tree (or any … (18 comments)

Holding an Offer HOSTAGE for a Second Preapproval - 08/01/10 03:53 PM
Many seller's agents are requesting for the buyer's to get preapproved with XYZ  lender as a stipulation for submission with their offer.  What if the buyer trusts their OWN mortgage broker or loan officer of choice?
In a situation where I've had a repeat customer who did choose their own loan officer and the seller's agent  demanded a preapproval from the funding lender of their choice is when my clients became very leary.
The cons of ‘forcing' a buyer to get preapproved AGAIN:
They trust their own loan officer because they've used he/she before and did a great job.  (AND..it was their … (72 comments)
