Lack of Perception and Commenting on ActiveRain - 09/29/10 04:16 PM
We can all sit in a circle and the first person will whisper in the next person's ear. They in turn pass it to the next person and it keeps going until it goes full circle. By the time it gets back to the first "whisperer"  and they reveal what transpired during the circle of whispering it is apparent that not everyone heard the same thing.
Facts or Presumptions?
How about Assumptions?
There are assumptions and presumptuous perceptions formed while each human being is reading or hearing something from another.
They say that the mind is a powerful thing; and … (67 comments)

Restoring Harmony and Balance to Real Estate Education - 09/28/10 01:16 PM
If everyone were open and honest then we would have no balance in our world. Does the same go for this scenario in our Real Estate Industry?  As we all are human, there will be good and bad in all areas of life and that includes our industry. But let's look into this further.....
After reading Real Estate Referrals Gone Wrong by Kathy McGraw I started to think about early on in my career when I had held an Open House. One of the couples overheard me explain to another couple about VA Loans and how they could utilize their benefits.   … (30 comments)

All Those Years Ago - 09/26/10 01:45 PM
It's a Sunday morning; about 7am here in Hawaii. I just got through reading Richard Weisser's post When the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak... and immediately had an inspiring moment to share with all of you.
There are times during our lives while we are  ‘growing up',  that we don't feel that 100% like Richard was talking about. Those times happen more often than not with the physical part of our beings aging wtih creaks and crinkles and our joints not as oiled as they used to be.
He goes on to say, ‘It's strange because on … (11 comments)

WINNERS of the Fall Season of Change Contest! | Positive Attitude for the Weary Soul Group - 09/25/10 10:52 PM
The POSITIVE ATTITUDE for the Weary Soul group was founded on June 18, 2007 and created for members to go for positive inspiration when their souls get weary.   All of our group contests are created to inject some positivity into the ActiveRain community and into our lives to reinforce the positive aspects of our lives and businesses.
This contest theme was based on a Fall Season of Change and creating a new plan for change that we could make to improve our lives, business and relationships.
The judges for the contest were William Johnson  and Kathy McGraw,  and they selected the winners … (33 comments)

Just Another Benefit of ActiveRain | Meeting With Mary Yonkers - 09/24/10 01:02 PM
It was this past Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at approximately 10:00am.  After parking in the huge parking structure across from the Hale Koa Hotel I hiked up the steps to the main outside lobby area and there she was!  Mary Yonkers! She let me know a few weeks ago that she would be coming to Hawaii...to my island of Oahu and asked if I would meet with her.

I am honored each and every time that a member of ActiveRain contacts me and asks to meet up when they arrive. (I am darn lucky that I live in paradise, where many love … (30 comments)

Top 10 Tips to Being a Team Player | Being Part of the Solution vs. Being Part of the Problem - 09/19/10 03:34 PM
How many of you believe you are a team player?
My definition of a team player is simple:  Being a team player means to recognize the strengths of all involved within a particular group and meeting a common goal.   I learned early on that working together to meet that common goal of getting to closing with our clients is THE most important part of the transaction.
We can rant and rave about the other agent, the loan officer, the buyer, the seller, the home inspector, the stager, the escrow officer, the attorney, the pest inspector, the surveyor (and the list goes … (22 comments)

Fall Season of Change Contest | Positive Attitude for the Weary Soul Group - 09/19/10 02:50 PM
Before the month of September started, there were signals to remind me of the upcoming Fall Season. Believe it or not, we have a little bit of a cooling off here in Hawaii during the Fall Season too. Yuk yuk. Needless to say, each of the seasons may depict a certain theme and I see the Fall Season as a means for CHANGE.
The changing colors of the leaves during the fall season give me a sense of time and space. It reminds me that I have a few months to gear up for the coming year and plan for the … (115 comments)

TOP Three Considerations For Choosing Your Realtor® - 09/09/10 02:34 PM
We all tend to grasp a few things along the way to incorporate into our business model.   There are some pointers we can use and some we keep on the back burner for another time.  Who knows when we'll be able to utilize them with a potential client.
Preparing a listing presentation or a buyer packet is surely an art. I prepare each and every one with care, consideration and geared specifically for the client. I try to make it interesting and attach a cover letter, graphs, articles I've written and loads of information.
I recently added something to the presentation/packet that I really … (19 comments)

Do You Turn a Blind Eye? - 09/08/10 03:24 AM

There are good and bad in all walks of life.
WE all know that.
It's a part of being human when we understand that being human includes not being perfect. There are no two people alike; no two minds thinking the same. Opinions from each human being are like apples and oranges that twist to suit the thoughts that come from ingrained beliefs.
So, what happens to our real estate industry when those ‘walks of life' that we don't agree with seemingly creep into the cracks of ethical walls?  For example: Back in the day, like in high school, you're … (17 comments)

My First Bloom - 09/02/10 12:56 PM
Months ago my mom gave me a small plant she had rooted just for me. She knows I love Pikake flowers and I've always loved to have a fragrant Pikake lei for occasions.
The other day I looked and there was a small bud starting and yesterday it was in full bloom.
My first bloom!

Now...if you think anything like I do, you start to think about all the things you've gone through in life that were your 'firsts'.  A new bloom can represent many things...new in the business, new life, marriage etc.
Have a wonderful day....and an even better … (15 comments)

It All Started With ActiveRain - 09/02/10 01:18 AM
I look back at some of the members I 'grew up' with on ActiveRain and some of them have traveled on to other sites where I meet up with them to exchange status or chat a bit. We may meet back here again from time to time as well.
Bottom line is that 'it all started with ActiveRain'.
We learned and continue to learn. We grew and connected with one another. We exchanged ideas. We eventually became friends through our written words, a chat on the phone and so forth, in hopes that we may one day meet....face to face.
