activerain community: 5 YEARS and Counting - My ActiveRain Experience - 03/25/12 02:05 PM
It’s my 5th Birthday Year as a Member on ActiveRain! The ActiveRain Real Estate Network has always been the best marketing tool to represent who I am, real estate and Hawaii Housing Market information, Oahu, Hawaii and Mililani local area information and more! There is no other online network I know of that has the personal and ‘hands on’ approach with their members to give them direction and a helping hand like ActiveRain and I have to start this 5th Anniversary blog by thanking them. There are ActiveRain Staff Staff members who have a wonderful ‘blogside manner’ but

activerain community: MAKE Your ActiveRain Blog POP! - 11/16/11 04:40 PM
Blogging on ActiveRain has been a long road that brought me business as well as connecting with my peers. Blogging meant that I make my own ‘POP’ with content that will attract readers who wanted to know more about real estate, my local area and certainly ….a bit about me. Blogging isn’t just about me either. With consistency, dedication and a whole lot of hard work… Came business from the consumer and referrals from my peers. We all want to have many featured posts, to accumulate lots of points and have LOTS of readers and business from our blogs. Well,

activerain community: ActiveRain Stewardship and Holding Self to Higher Standard - 09/08/11 06:28 PM
Four and a half years ago, I wrote a post here on ActiveRain titled Stewardship: The Way to a PLEASANT Blogging Experience. The idea was from a post from a comment thread in which our own Bob Stewart - ActiveRain talked about holding ourselves to a higher standard. Bob wrote, ""If you have a following on ActiveRain, you need to HOLD YOURSELF TO A HIGHER STANDARD. Having a big following (and there are a ton of you commenting on this that do) means that you take stewardship over the community as a whole. ..........Your actions reflect positively and negatively on ALL

activerain community: ActiveRain is About REAL ESTATE, Our Communities and …..US - 05/06/11 07:29 PM
Real Estate is about our local communities. A seasoned agent knows their local real estate market and also knows about their local area and communities too. ActiveRain believes in this theory and therefore started the ActiveRain Community Sponsorship (previously known as a ‘Localism Sponsorship'). The topics include everything and anything to do with our local areas including businesses, events, history, people, places and things. Real Estate is about people. It's the people behind the words at ActiveRain. We know that transparency is key to communicating online. We write about personal dilemmas or triumphs and support each other through all. Writing as if

activerain community: Who Google's Our Name? - 04/12/11 12:47 PM
Does the Consumer Google Our Name? Heck, yeah! I read a comment where someone did not believe that anyone would Google another person's name. Remember, folks. Mentioning another's name (with ill intent) is not a good way to get your own good publicity) It only shows who YOU are. Focusing on another mirrors something we wish we had ....or had not. Every so often there will be a seller who will search for my name ...to find out how much I'm on the internet to market their home. They search to find out if there are good reviews about "Sally"

activerain community: Come Learn About the Recent Launch of ActiveRain Community Pages - 08/04/10 11:43 AM
Being a huge fan of Localism I can bet that the new ActiveRain Community Pages will be even better than Localism was. Join the webinar for questions and you'll get your questions answered....last chance to join today's webinar! Via Bob Stewart - ActiveRain (ActiveRain): There are a bunch of great questions coming up on the post announcing the new ActiveRain community pages. Some of the questions are easy to answer in writing, and others get a little complicated and tough to explain the answer. We are going to do two webinars on the subject covering your questions. The first

activerain community: Playing Nice in the ActiveRain Sandbox - 05/02/10 05:56 PM
Okay, so it hasn't been pleasant for all of us to try and log in and get a post or two into ActiveRain. Believe me, I have gotten impatient, discouraged and a bit lost at times. Shame on me. ActiveRain. plays a big role for my business...and life. I've been blogging about my local area, real estate and well, just life and family for over three years. The addiction is apparent in all when the frenzy to get those 10 posts a week and 10 comments a day to retrieve those golden points .... is interrupted. It wasn't easy, but I took

activerain community: Will YOU Fill the Shoes of a Referral? - 12/29/09 02:10 PM
When referring a client to another Realtor® we think in the best interests of our client. We interview the professional with the utmost care and keeping in mind that they will do their best to think in the best interests of our client as well. Granted, not always do we really ‘know' if it will be the right choice but we do our best to get the right professional to ‘click' with our client. Which brings us to: Why would I refer my client to YOU? Because you are not continuously bragging about yourself throughout the whole interview and you focus on

activerain community: DO YOU HOLD YOURSELF TO A HIGHER STANDARD? - 12/06/09 10:34 PM
TWO YEARS ago....Bob Stewart - ActiveRain was talking in a comment thread about STEWARDSHIP and I subsequently wrote a post in December of 2007 Stewardship: The Way to a PLEASANT Blogging Experience to not only reiterate a couple of Bob's comments but to give my point of view as well. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Following are the comments Bob wrote back then: "If you have a following on ActiveRain, you need to HOLD YOURSELF TO A HIGHER STANDARD. Having a big following (and there are a ton of you commenting on this that do) means that you take stewardship over the community as a whole. ..........Your actions

activerain community: Are You Engaging Your Readers? - 10/13/09 05:44 PM
There are many topics and thousands of posts that have been written about How to Blog, Why to Blog, When to Blog, Where to Blog and What to Blog. And then you see a comment on someones post where the writer is complaining about others getting featured posts all the time. Obviously they aren't getting a post featured ...or even read......and they are wondering why? We engage the reader with our ‘interesting' content and I can't be more straightforward than to say that if you want others to read your posts you have to MAKE it interesting. Localism Posts: They have

activerain community: You May Have a Different View on the Same Topic....So Write IT! - 10/02/09 12:14 PM
You have an idea about a topic to write about and you're hoping no one wrote about IT yet. You search for similar topics and lo and behold someone wrote something 'similar' to IT and you hesitate because you just know that people will stick a comment on your post saying, 'I just wrote about that'. We are all human and we all have different opinions and there are no two people alike.... so just write about IT! You may have a different view that the last person who wrote about ....IT. Your opinion about IT may also be one there will be many who agree with and many

activerain community: What was MY LIFE like before ActiveRain? - 09/23/09 10:11 PM
I've written countless posts about my experiences on ActiveRain and it's getting to be repetitive. I mean, how many times can I write about my love for ActiveRain, my success with ActiveRain, ActiveRain Blogging, the friendships made on ActiveRain, the people behind the words on ActiveRain, the leads and contacts and closed transactions from ActiveRain. Including all the information I've received from ActiveRain and hey....becoming a pretty good writer besides. I can hooray all the way down the line about ActiveRain from March of 2007....But there will be no thought so profound enough to write about as when this thought popped

activerain community: What ActiveRain Has Done For Me...and Can Do For You! - 09/20/09 02:32 PM
For those of you that are wondering exactly "What Can ActiveRain Do For You".... Let me tell you MY story of "What ActiveRain Has Done For Me". I was fortunate that I started blogging on ActiveRain back in March of 2007 because this network allowed me to grow while learning the who, what, when, why, how and where about basic blogging practices. I started with ‘no clue' about blogging but jumped in wholeheartedly to find out. Yup, that's me. The need to know. I've written so many posts here regarding my feelings about ActiveRain and most recently What is ActiveRain?

activerain community: What Is My Life ....at 52 - 09/15/09 12:46 PM
You'd think that after 52 years of life on this earth I wouldn't get all excited anymore when a birthday pops up. Well, when you pass that mid mark of half a century it seems to be a grand yearly accomplishment; as if it's a goal to be attained year by year. I've gotten older ...and hopefully a lot wiser as the years have passed. Life and all those precious moments shared become significant and I hold on to those memories knowing that they are worth more than ‘stuff'. It's those memories no one can take away from me and those

activerain community: I Apologize.... for Being Busy? - 09/02/09 11:29 AM
In light of our real estate market picking up..... Ahem. Let me start over. In light of the real estate market and MY business picking up I'm giving an explanation for my 'absence' on commenting like I'd like to. As a long standing community member it feels odd not to 'make' time for blogging and commenting on others posts but business comes first... Oops. Business and the ever balancing act of life (family) and whatever curve balls come my way. Bottom line, I apologize for not being able to get around to commenting on all the wonderful posts that come

activerain community: What is ActiveRain? ..... THIS is ActiveRain! - 08/05/09 08:22 AM
Our founder, Jonathan Washburn asked a question the the other week on his post What is ActiveRain? I went back there a few mornings later to see if he responded to my question about coming back to tell us all how wonderful ‘we' are. And he did. Because of Jon and his staff's involvement with the community I have remained a loyal member on ActiveRain since March of 2007. It made a difference to have them interact with us on a daily basis. It made a difference that they cared and took into consideration when I had a concern. It made

activerain community: Getting Out More Means No Regrets? - 07/07/09 04:54 PM
Have you ever had one of those days where you want to buy something that you don't need but just have to have? Today, I bought this plaque at a low budget store called Price Busters in Mililani Town Center. It just caught my eye and I had to have it. I'm not one to run around buying unnecessary things but today I wanted .....this plaque. A catchy phrase. I brought it home and took a picture. I kept staring at it and tried to grasp what it meant to me. What it was that caught my eye and took ahold

activerain community: People Misinterpret What Success Is All About - 06/27/09 12:32 AM
Watching the National News tonight there were ongoing stories about Michael Jackson. What will happen to the children? A Music Legacy! The Dancing Moves! And then the heart wrenching realization that this talented individual was not really happy. Some people misinterpret what success is all about. Quincy Jones spoke of his professional and personal interactions with Michael Jackson and the most profound part of the interview (to me) was not about the dance moves, the singing, the children and beyond. He spoke about the resistance to success, not being able to handle that success due to not having a serious and grounded

activerain community: Windows Live, Me and ActiveRain - 06/20/09 11:23 PM
Tips and Tricks just never end! I'd been a member of Windows Live for a few years and never got into the 'social' side of it. Well, about a week ago I played around and what do you know. I imported all my friends from Facebook and connected with many of them. Then I entered my link for my ActiveRain Outside Blog so that everytime I wrote a post and saved it to my ActiveRain Outside Blog it would create a link on my Windows Live (just like Twitter) and give updates. Conclusion: As long as I am active on ActiveRain and posting relevant
