balance: If Ever Anyone Needed a Lift...It Was Then - 02/13/12 07:40 PM
I was going through a tough time the other day and I needed a little time and space to regroup. It wasn’t something to share with everyone when a mental breakdown was occurring. What one person may go through may seemingly be a ‘nothing’ to another although a personal turmoil means something to each individual who is going through it. I’m so grateful that I have the ability to recognize that whatever the situation or circumstance there are learning lessons in all. I rested and regrouped and everything was fine the next day. Back at the office: While chatting with my Broker

balance: Surviving Your Serengeti | From Curve Balls to Giraffe - 02/23/11 01:02 AM
We are challenged once again..... Surviving your Serengeti: An ActiveRain Challenge and a great book on the challenges during a struggling time and how we can learn to survive and grow. Reading these first two chapters of the book I realized it told a story of how the course of my life has evolved. Yes I say evolved because my life has changed drastically from the person I was before to the awesome me I am now. The lessons learned that surely allow me to sleep very well each and every night. There are no fears from hiding behind walls of unapproachable...me. There are changing

balance: A Millionaire’s Bucket List? - 02/17/11 12:37 PM
A couple of weeks ago I was flipping channels and came across a couple of lottery winners. I was intrigued by the thought of what they would do with their money. One of them immediately said they would quit their job. I thought about it and wondered what I would do if I were to win a lottery of a substantial amount of money. I wrote about What Really Matters......In This Life? after watching the movie The Bucket List over a year ago. I do believe the same things although I can actually make that list longer.....even if I won a

balance: The Ho'nu and The Ilio’holo’I’ka’uaua - 02/12/11 03:12 PM
First of all, the Honu (pronounced ho new) is the endangered Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle and the Ilio Holo Ka Uaua (pronounced ee lee oh- ho-low-ee-ka- oo-ah-oo-ah) is the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal . On a bright sunny day, Honu Sally was basking in the sun on Laniakea Beach on the North Shore of Oahu. She came on the beach when she had had enough to eat from the deep blue Pacific Ocean and in need of resting. She didn't make the mistake of doing things too quickly and got enough rest before heading out again to exercise, eat seaweed

balance: Is My Business Plan for 2011 Realistic? - 12/31/10 03:49 PM
Who am I kidding! I have an overall life plan for each and every day of my life. I live by good values and beliefs and always keep in mind how my actions may affect others or how theirs may affect me. A solid foundation for success; although each and every person has their own level of what success means, don't they? This year I am definitely going to: Continue to keep balance in all I do. I have to have my work, home, sleep, me time in order to have a life filled with contentment. I no longer have to

balance: A Gift Of Gratitude? Only YOU Can Decide! - 11/23/10 08:08 PM
We all have our trials and tribulations in life and there is no other holiday so profound for remembering what we are grateful for than Thanksgiving. Of course our holidays are commercialized in hopes of businesses making more money although it's up to you and me to think about the meaning behind the 'day'. The other evening my husband was doing his usual 'grabbing the tv remote and surfing' the channels like there was no tomorrow. He happened across the PBS channel and for a moment stopped to 'check it out' because it was the same gentleman who gave his 'opinion and input'

balance: Restoring Harmony and Balance to Real Estate Education - 09/28/10 01:16 PM
If everyone were open and honest then we would have no balance in our world. Does the same go for this scenario in our Real Estate Industry? As we all are human, there will be good and bad in all areas of life and that includes our industry. But let's look into this further..... After reading Real Estate Referrals Gone Wrong by Kathy McGraw I started to think about early on in my career when I had held an Open House. One of the couples overheard me explain to another couple about VA Loans and how they could utilize their benefits.

balance: All Those Years Ago - 09/26/10 01:45 PM
It's a Sunday morning; about 7am here in Hawaii. I just got through reading Richard Weisser's post When the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak... and immediately had an inspiring moment to share with all of you. There are times during our lives while we are ‘growing up', that we don't feel that 100% like Richard was talking about. Those times happen more often than not with the physical part of our beings aging wtih creaks and crinkles and our joints not as oiled as they used to be. He goes on to say, ‘It's strange because on

balance: BALANCE is the Key to My Success - 06/06/10 04:07 PM
How we define success will determine the level of success you achieve. What Really Matters......In This Life? I continuously ask myself this question and after watching the movie "The Bucket List" I wrote a few definitions of success meant to me. I continue to update that list to reflect the person I have become and want to be. I have to have balance within all aspects of my life. Work, play, family, sleep and so forth. The following simple pie chart reflects the time I spend and in that "work" section is also my blogging, website maintenance and so forth. This

balance: When in Doubt....Clean it Out - 01/05/10 07:29 PM
After digging in my memory bank I pulled out this thought: I remember when i was a kid and I had to tell my friends, "Sorry, I can't come out to play until I clean my room". My parents taught me to be organized and to 'clean house' before starting another project. I didn't realize the importance until I got into Real Estate. There are no buts to this equation. I HAVE to remain neat and organized or everything goes haywire. Even while dealing with two more closings coming up next week and with additional 'chores' while my husband remains in a cast and my son's surgery

balance: Leave the Drama for Your Mama...Get a LIFE - 12/18/09 07:16 PM
Gail Robinson wrote a post Top 50 AR Bloggers in December 2009 and it was about the top (points) bloggers on AR who have remained in the top 50 for the past two years (and still active) and who was included in this list? Yes, MOI. And it took plenty of dedication, commitment and consistency with blogging on ActiveRain...to get to this point. That first year of 2007 I was going through my trials and tribulations in blogging. ActiveRain was THE very first real estate network that I joined and it was a new experience for me in the world of

balance: Apologies and a Heavy Heart - 11/29/09 10:50 AM
The story started with my son on the U.S.S Kitty Hawk and feeling lonely. He wrote an email to me with the intent of everyone ‘hearing' his apology for not staying in touch while he was serving his country. As a mom, I was more concerned with the way he wrote it and my heart strings tugged good and hard. My son was grown up and realized the importance of keeping in touch. He needed reassurance that everyone understood that sometimes curve balls get in the way. I tend to lose touch with some of my friends here on ActiveRain, on

balance: Fact or Fiction? - 10/13/09 12:00 PM
What kind of books do you read? While perusing the book store for a great read I gravitate toward documentaries, news and then look at the soulful (Deepak Chopra) stuff that has helped me through the years with ‘getting a grip' on the meaning of life. On the flip side I love the weird but ‘exotic' writing of Stephen King. What kind of television shows do you watch? My husband got me into watching history, NATGEO and all those channels and topics I didn't even know about. I'm still learning! On the flip side I like cop shows and action/drama/love/fantasy stories.

balance: People Misinterpret What Success Is All About - 06/27/09 12:32 AM
Watching the National News tonight there were ongoing stories about Michael Jackson. What will happen to the children? A Music Legacy! The Dancing Moves! And then the heart wrenching realization that this talented individual was not really happy. Some people misinterpret what success is all about. Quincy Jones spoke of his professional and personal interactions with Michael Jackson and the most profound part of the interview (to me) was not about the dance moves, the singing, the children and beyond. He spoke about the resistance to success, not being able to handle that success due to not having a serious and grounded

balance: A Reflection of Days Past - 06/13/09 01:34 PM
Have you ever had one of those days when you think all the posts that you are gravitating towards and reading are meant just for you? I started reading posts from the night before last and some of my weariness started to dissipate or at the very least had me regrouping my thoughts. I have long since believed that "blogging for business" and "bonding with peers" is the make -up of ActiveRain and the reason I have stayed here for so long. After gulping my first cup of coffee down yesterday morning I picked up the phone to call my inspirer of

The trials I've faced and the tribulations I've crossed to get to the point and time of NOW. Climbing the stairs, step by step and as each period in my life approached the steps became harder to climb. Ups and downs and all arounds. At long last....clarification. The meaning of defining success for my 'self'. It is an achievement to become comfortable in this vast world and in this mystery called life. Each person has their own meaning of success and we conquer the steps by going through each situation and circumstance and turn them into learning lessons. We fall and get

JUST DO IT! Did that "JUST DO IT" get you all motivated? LOL! We literally did our Spring Cleaning and went above and beyond this past weekend. Spring Cleaning Saturday and Sunday! We moved as much as we could out of the bedroom and PAINTED. We cleaned out everything down to the closets so we could donate to Goodwill and .....declutter. A massive undertaking that was well past due. The paint job came out beautiful! A darker tone of cream with bright white trim. Yup...we were proud. Decluttered, painted, cleaned the room, blinds and curtains too! Amazing the tips

balance: Defining Success - 04/05/09 12:41 PM
Success appears in all forms imaginable although there is none ever so profound at this point in my life than the soothing, content feeling inside this ‘self' that determines and dictates who I am. A ‘self' goes through many different trials, errors and joyous tribulations during those years of ‘finding self' and some succeed in just understanding and accepting that things happen for a reason. To learn from every situation and circumstance that one encounters is surely a gift and an experience to add to the memory bank for future use as one of the grand learning lessons on this

balance: Thank Goodness It's Friday! - 03/06/09 10:45 AM
I'm usually not wishing for a Friday because my weeks don't usually have an end. I've just had a weird week and in the end it seems to be all falling into place. Repairs are scheduled for the seller....my washer is scheduled (again) for repair next Wednesday (one week now because I made a lot of phone calls) and I have all apppointments scheduled for showing property tomorrow to clients that just arrived last Monday whom I've been working with for a few months. Maybe it was just a busy week and not so weird after all. Still, ......Thank Goodness It's
