celeste sally cheeseman: Celeste "Sally"Cheeseman,RA,CRS -2012 Aloha Aina Realtor Award Winner! - 12/16/12 12:00 AM

The Aloha Aina Realtor Award Program was established in 1998 by the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®.  It was established for the sole purpose of recognizing  and rewarding REALTORS® for their extraordinary service to their clients, their colleagues and their community.

Over the last few years I have been nominated by my clients for the Aloha Aina REALTOR® Award. Though I hadn’t won, I felt I had ‘won’ when our Honolulu Board of Realtors had sent me the forms that my clients sent in. Those words of appreciation from my clients meant the world to me. Each year I felt … (23 comments)

celeste sally cheeseman: Woodcreek at Launani Valley Area of Interest |Mililani Woodcreek Homes - 05/12/12 04:45 AM
Considered to be the “third region of Mililani”, Launani Valley is a secluded master planned development in the valley below Mililani Tech Park. About 5 minutes away is Wheeler AAF and Schofield Barracks and definitely convenient for the military and government workers at these Army Bases on Oahu.  A hop, skip and jump and you’re on the freeway and about 20-25 miutes to Hickam AFB and Pearl Harbor Navy Base and 35-40 minutes down the H-2 Freeway to the H-1 Freeway to downtown Honolulu.
What’s even better is the North Shore of Oahu (beaches, surfing, scuba diving and more!) is just … (5 comments)

The national news does not depict the housing market for Hawaii and it’s local areas and neighborhoods.. Each neighborhood will determine the housing market for your local area. celeste sally cheeseman: Ewa Gentry Hawaii Communities - Affordable Prices in Paradise! - 09/18/11 10:11 AM
The Ewa Beach, Oahu, Hawaii area grew and developers built many new construction homes starting from the early 1990's.  The communities in Ewa bloomed with the housing boom and there were several styles, communities and townhomes to be had during this time.

During the last few years the Ewa Homes and Townhouse/Condo Market Prices went down considerably in this area and sales numbers were still booming to get a piece of that Ewa Beach area pie. Prices are now at an all time low and with interest rates now at an all time low as well it is surely a … (10 comments)

celeste sally cheeseman: A Piece of My Mind | Trials and Tribulations - 08/13/11 01:17 PM
Every once in awhile it’s nice to check in to ActiveRain and let our members know what we’ve been up to. Bob Stewart gave me the idea with his Random Thoughts: Light Sabers, Facebook Lists and Geeky Girls to express personal thoughts through my writing.
I suppose it’s a different aspect to my usual writing about one topic but I’ll be able to cram a bunch into one post lol.
ActiveRain has been my ‘savior’ of sorts throughout these past few years. I have learned, I have grown and I’ve made oh so many friends. Though I’ve met many in real life there … (21 comments)

celeste sally cheeseman: Myths and Facts About Real Estate Agents - 07/04/11 03:10 PM
Just to get the story straight, the majority of Realtors® are not rich:
Yes, we can make a good living although we have to pay taxes just like any other independent contractor or owner of a business. In Hawaii, we not only have to pay state and federal taxes but GET (general excise tax as well) We pay for all our expenses up front. Marketing, advertising, gasoline, office supplies and equipment, phones, websites, blogs, licensing, mls fees and real estate board dues, continuing education classes and designation yearly fees, travel expenses, lunches, parking, staging, open house refreshments. celeste sally cheeseman: The REAL Scoop on Oahu Properties for Hawaii Home Buyers - 06/23/11 03:51 PM
Calling for showing appointments are a very timely part of a Realtors® list of tasks for home buyers. We have more than enough on our plate when thinking about our Zoning Laws and then take into consideration the type of loan the  Hawaii home buyer is acquiring for that home out in the ocean. Searching for those ‘special and specific' types of properties is another big task.
We can spend hours upon hours beating the MLS to death. Then we call for showing appointments and do not get a response for half the calls or emails we have made.  (WHY? I … (12 comments)

celeste sally cheeseman: Honolulu County Hawaii Zoning Laws and Land Use Permits - 06/16/11 07:44 AM
We all believe in all things tangible because we can touch, feel or see them.  The ownership of land is the most valuable piece of tangible property there is. If you own a piece of a Hawaii....Land in Paradise with your own home on it then you have the most valuable asset one can have. The American Dream, right?

If there were no Restricted Preservation and Conservation land in Hawaii our islands would be full of cities and buildings and no History of Hawaii would be left behind except in books or online articles.  If there were no involvement to protect … (12 comments)

celeste sally cheeseman: I Just Bet…. A Realtor® Can Answer Many of Your Questions - 06/01/11 03:41 PM
It's just my opinion (okay, maybe a bunch of others too) but isn't it natural that we believe that the ‘expert' in the field knows better than one not? I mean, we all say that we would not let a handyman perform open heart surgery on us, right?

What's an expert anyway?
An expert is one who has worked in a particular field for a length of time and gained knowledge and experience to be considered a reliable source.   An expert is considered to be  an avid thinker and recognized for their wisdom and sound judgment in their particular area of … (20 comments)

celeste sally cheeseman: Transparency: A First Impression of Who I Am - 05/28/11 10:56 AM
We market ourselves online through blogging, websites, real estate sites for listings and more. We give our expertise and knowledge to all who will "listen" and in turn our peers and the consumer contacts us; hungry for more.
But what is all this worth, if not for transparency in our writing? We learn to write as if the reader is walking beside us and as if we're talking WITH them and not  AT them. We give a piece of ourselves so when they pick up the phone and hear our voice it's as if they ‘knew' a part of us already.

celeste sally cheeseman: Past Lives Before Real Estate - 05/21/11 12:22 PM
Growing up as a family member of a U.S. Navy father and a U.S. Air Force ex-husband was educational to say the least. Traveling to far away countries like Turkey, Germany, Japan and the Philippines allowed me to expand my mind and take in the different ethnicities and learn about all the different cultures.
Fond memories prevail through all my travels and allowed me to have an open mind.
My mother was born and raised on Kauai, the Garden Island, and one of the Hawaiian Islands that make up the State of Hawaii. It was her wish for my dad to … (21 comments)

celeste sally cheeseman: Mililani Town | Mililani Fairway Village on the Golf Course - 04/28/11 07:25 AM
Memories of my younger years as a resident of Mililani started during the summer between 8th and 9th grade. We just moved into our newly constructed home built by Castle & Cooke in 1971 and were one of the lucky ones who were fortunate to get a rim lot at the end of a cul-de-sac with only valley below.
I remember smelling the burning of the pineapple fields at harvest time and I would watch them harvest and replant from my bedroom windows.   The rich red soil that seemed to cover everything including our feet and it would stain anything white … (3 comments)

celeste sally cheeseman: Mililani Real Estate | Mililani Homes For Sale | Mililani Market Report March 2011 - 04/13/11 06:49 PM
Mililani is a Master Planned Community and has a population of approximately 30,000 people. The first homes went up for sale around June 1968 and the last of homes sold in 2008.
In 1986 Mililani was named an "All American City" and IS the only community in Hawaii to receive this distinction. In 1990 a ground breaking ceremony commenced for the Mililani Mauka subdivision which is a newer and more modern side of the community on the east side of the H-2 freeway.
If you are planning on a Relocation to Hawaii you may want to consider the community of Mililani, Hawaii. Centrally located to all military bases on … (2 comments)
