courteous: Tips In Dealing With the Anonymous Cyberstalker - 07/08/09 05:05 PM
We put ourselves out on the internet to market ourselves. We are blogging so that we can give a side of ourselves to the consumer and our peers so they are able to get to ‘know' the person behind the words. There will be many times that we cross paths with another that will leave a lasting impression regardless if they identify themselves or not.
I've been trying to figure out a diplomatic way to write about something that happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I think I have the frame of mind that is needed, so bear with … (83 comments)

We ALL feel the need to express opinions on many subjects. It's human nature.....we all think differently and have different opinions. Regardless if it's political, about something going on around ActiveRain or Localism or just plain views on religion or abortion, the way you are presenting it can make all the difference in the world.
In other words, I can be assertive to express my opinion. Be mean, nasty, blunt and one sided and no one would want to listen to me. At least I know I wouldn't if I talked me to that way.

My English Cocker Spaniel, Shadow, does not like the vacuum cleaner. She's NOT one of those dogs that barks at it or tries to chase it around. When she sees us go towards the closet with the vacuum in it she immediately runs in the bedroom, jumps on the bed and makes sure she is way up top on our pillows so she can watch 'that thing' and make sure it doesn't suck her up.
What was worse than the vacuum? Second Hand smoke. We just made our Second Anniversary mark on the 13th January...the day we quit smoking. I was a 30 year … (30 comments)

That first meeting! We usually have some insight regarding the attitude of a person at that very first meeting. It's that first impression that really stands out in ones mind.
Let's say we 'meet' a peer online and for that first impressionwe get is an opinionated mindset and a bunch of !!!! (yelling) with a judgmental view. Let's say we meet the lady in line at the cashier checkout in a grocery store and all they're doing is nagging and ranting about who knows what.
Well, sometimes we HAVE to be judgemental on our end in picking and choosing what kind of friends … (74 comments)

courteous: GONG Uses in Real Estate & Blogging - 10/23/08 02:00 PM
My friend Brian Block sent me a little package the other day. I opened it to find a copy of my post from July.... The Gong Show Returns! along with a miniature gong, gonger (the think that hits the gong) and a gong book of uses.  I crack up.
Who remembers "THE GONG SHOW"?
The book said that you shouldn't use the gong for some of these purposes: in a library, at a best friends wedding, at a funeral, your first date, when your boss is speaking and so forth. Yup, I do believe those may be causes to lose friends and your job … (52 comments)
