dori: My Health Related Goals for 2013 (An ActiveRain Challenge) - 02/04/13 12:50 AM
My eating habits are really bad. I ate fried foods galore (anything deep fried tasted soooo good!) That was unhealthy eating but my worst eating habit is my sweet tooth. My idea of having a wonderful dessert was a BOWLFUL of vanilla ice cream, smothered with Hershey’s Chocolate syrup, whipped cream and walnuts all over.
EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!
As each decade passed, I started noticing that I could not eat all these goodies that I used to. Especially when I hit the 50 yr. mark!  My metabolism SLOWED…..down. My blood sugar rocketed and cholesterol crept upwards. Other ailments came about …but … (45 comments)

dori: It's Almost Time for Motherhood! - 08/30/11 11:13 AM
I've been on pins and needles awaiting my first grandchild.  My whole waking hours at this time consist of work and anticipation of my first grandchild bursting out into the world and my daughter as a first time mother craddling her son for the first time.
His name is....Brayden
These are the instances that make us human in this vast world of blogging. We show a bit of transparency through this network called ActiveRain....and we become the "people...behind the words".

This is my world right now.....

Keep in mind that my daughter Dori is a petite 4'10"' of a … (32 comments)

dori: Miracle for an ActiveRain Member - 04/26/11 11:15 AM
I've always believed that we share more than real estate on ActiveRain. We write about the industry or our related fields, our local areas and events, tips for the consumer and our peers, history and even a bit of our personal lives.
We do so with the intent of sharing a piece of ourselves so that the consumer can better relate to the person who is behind the written word.  We have a thought or an idea and we articulately write so that our readers can 'feel' the kind of person we are.
Those that know me know that I am … (35 comments)

dori: December 07, 1941 -The Bombing of Pearl Harbor | Memories from My Mother and Her Grandaughters' Discoveries - 12/07/10 05:27 AM
My Japanese ancestry and background as a Hawaii resident (since 1967) is pretty interesting.  My mother was born and raised on the island of Kauai and she was one of 8 siblings born into an ‘arranged' marriage with my grandmother being a "picture bride" and my grandfather being born and raised in Japan.
In 1936 my grandfather passed away from stomach cancer and my grandmother raised the children with my older aunties helping with the younger ones.  After the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese on December 7, 1941, many Japanese were put in the internment camps.
My Mom met my … (18 comments)

dori: The Wedding Luncheon Video - 03/31/09 05:13 PM
As you all know, Gerardo and Dori (my daughter) were married on Saturday. You can read about it here>>>  A Wonderful Change With A Spring Fresh Future!
Well, we just had a small luncheon afterwards at the Old Spaghetti Factory. (I love their food!)  Anyway, there is nothing more complete than having a video to show everyone's TRUE COLORS.
Listen closely and you'll hear all the remarks going on....like "that's your daugher"....and "why'd you ask how they  FEEL" and stuff like that.....quite hilarious.
BTW....Gary and I don't drink....and you can tell who is....like ...my mom for one lol!  Have fun....and … (20 comments)

dori: A Wonderful Change With A Spring Fresh Future! - 03/29/09 08:09 AM
There comes a time in ones life when a person knows they need to change something so their lives can be more enriched and meaningful.
There comes a time in a mother's life when all they hope, wish and care about is for their children to be happy.
People change in their own good time. They do not change if they do not want to and they do not change for anyone but themselves.  That's when it works. Circumstances and situations give a person permission to keep doing the same things over, to stay in unhealthy relationships and continue to beat ones self esteem down.
