hawaii surfing: Waikiki Beach- Still Going Strong With Surf, Sun and Fun! - 02/10/09 11:33 AM

This is a view of Waikiki Beach on February 8, 2009 at approximately 11:00am. Everyone was either at the Pro Bowl or headed to the last Pro Bowl game at the Aloha Stadium. Yet, with all reports on tourism and visitors numbers going down it sure took on a different life this past Sunday.

Maybe everyone on the beach didn't come for the Pro Bowl? Maybe they just came to soak in the sun? Maybe take advantage of great air fare rates? Hotel rates? Just came to get away from the cold?

Well, we sure don't have the fall leaves changing colors and we don't have snow or seasonal pictures standing out in a crowd displaying the distinct months of the year. What we do have in Honolulu County is a warm tropical climate with blue skies that take your breath away day after day throughout the year.

Everyone knows what surfing is right? Riding the big waves! Getting in the tubes! Well, we know what is is like now with reknowned famous surfing championships at all the world's finest surfing spots. How about "way back in the day"?
