honolulu hawaii relocations: Tanaka of Tokyo - Japanese Steak & Seafood House - 12/27/08 02:02 PM

Yesterday we decided to head over to Ala Moana Shopping Center and eat lunch at Tanaka of Tokyo -Japanese Steak & Seafood House. With a wide variety of steak and seafood dishes on the menu to choose from each dish is prepared by a skilled Master Teppan-Yaki (teppan meaning iron griddle and yaki meaning fried or broiled) chef.
The seating is situated around the iron griddle with the chef in the middle preparing the food with an entertaining show of flying spatulas and knives. With the chef cracking us up with jokes and flinging shrimp tails into his hat and … (10 comments)

honolulu hawaii relocations: Honolulu County & Traffic Info - 10/31/08 11:48 AM
It's the hustle and bustle of early morning traffic coming from Central Oahu and heading in to Downtown Honolulu (in the distance are the tall buildings of the business district) We bear with it during these hours between 6-8 in the morning and bear with it between 4-6 or so in the evenings.
Peak hour traffic is nothing new for any of us here in the city or anywhere else in the nation.
The thing about Honolulu traffic is that there is just so many alternate routes and if the highway is jammed, so will the side streets be.
The positive side of all … (10 comments)

honolulu hawaii relocations: Monorail Rides, Murals & More at Pearlridge Center- Aiea- Hawaii - 08/13/08 08:45 PM

Last week I took a small break and went to the Pearlridge Center. About a 10-15 minute drive from Waipio Gentry-Waikele it has everything and anything you could possible think of in their Uptown and Downtown Malls.
Picture to the left:  Pearlridge Center is the only mall with a monorail to transport customers from Uptown to Downtown malls.
Pearlridge (Shopping) Center is the largest INDOOR shopping mall on Oahu (Honolulu County) and located in Aiea

Both sides have plenty of parking (holidays are the exception) and I decided to park on the upper level. I entered the Downtown Mall of Pearlridge Center through Macy's (third … (20 comments)

honolulu hawaii relocations: Hawaiian Electric (HECO) Rebates on Energy StarĀ® Appliances - 08/09/08 11:57 AM
We decided to start doing more to make our townhouse more energy efficient. Well, there's just so much you can do for a small townhouse so we started with the lightbulbs and an air conditioner a couple of years ago. Then, a couple of weeks ago we went to Costco and we found TWO 52" Hunter ceiling fans with lights and on the box it had a sticker "Energy Star".
Why did we start getting to be energy efficient wise guys?
Our Hawaiian Electric bill was almost one hundred eighty dollars And....our electric bill will KEEP climbing We needed to reduce our … (13 comments)

honolulu hawaii relocations: The NEX Shopping Plaza - Pearl Harbor- Hawaii - 08/07/08 02:37 PM
Yesterday my daughter and I went to the Super Shopping Plaza. The NEX (Navy Exchange) at Pearl Harbor. The NEX back in 1967 was a single story old building with a couple of separate ones scattered around the Moanalua Shopping Center area and up the road from the Makalapa Gate- Pearl Harbor Navy Base.
A few years ago they built this giant double level mall NEX consisting of 275,000 sq. ft of oodles of shopping, other stores and a giant Commissary too. It is Hawaii's Largest Navy Exchange and named the "2006 Bingham Award" winner for excellence and outstanding performance.
Not only is this "mall" HUGE … (14 comments)

honolulu hawaii relocations: Hawaii Land Rush ....Creating MY OWN Communities - 08/05/08 02:46 PM
The New Localism has opened new doors for more communities of MY OWN Honolulu County Neighborhoods that will continue to get me google juice.
When I wrote about something that may interest a Hawaii Military Relocation and a Honolulu Hawaii Relocations I posted into Localism entered the State, County and City. Under "neighborhood" it give the option to "Add Neighborhood". This is where the memory bank kicked in from all I've learned on ActiveRain.
MY Community is surely my market niche. The military plays a HUGE part in our community and so do the Hawaii Retiree or Hawaii Job Transfers. Even the people that just want a … (63 comments)

honolulu hawaii relocations: Do You Want Environmental FACTS or Polls? -Honolulu Hawaii Relocations & Information - 08/03/08 09:56 PM
You ever notice how different the polls are from different magazines, groups and so forth that have different statistics for different cities? One thing I noticed is that Hawaii never seems to be on those nationwide statistics for like cleaner air, schools or even being ‘green'.
So I did a little research and had to literally type in Hawaii...clean air and stuff like that. I guess because we're out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean we aren't considered part of the nation or something. NOT! We are just as important and play a vital part in Hawaii Military Relocations and … (13 comments)

honolulu hawaii relocations: Relocating to Hawaii - 03/20/07 08:36 PM
So you're relocating to Hawaii? You may want to scale down on the furniture and don't expect to have loads of sq. ft. interior to accomodate all that "stuff" you've been accumulating for the past ten years.  I've learned to do a sweep of my small townhouse every six months.  If I haven't used it in 6 months it most likely should be on it's way to the shelter.  So when packing up your "valuables" you may want to take a look at it that way.
Always look at the cup half full instead of half empty.  You may be getting smaller … (1 comments)
